Do you have a tranny cooler? If so then the two lines are right on it. Just pop hood and look over top of it. I use top line for convenience. The hard line is what u wanna connect drain hose to.

Fluid expands as temps rise. This affects the fluid level. On a "sealed" transmission, fluid level is more critical than it is on older transmissions that can tolerate a wider range of acceptable fluid levels.

hey toyturbodiesel,

thanks for posting the DIY. I did drain & fill my tranny back when the truck was at around 30K miles...but again, that was just the drain & fill. I didn't do the flush like you did.

I'm having difficulty visualizing the return hose that you disconnect to flush it out. Can you snap another picture from a little further out and maybe point to it for better frame of reference to help locate it? Thanks..
If you look at the second and third pictures there are two lines that come out of the tranny the line you want to use is the one on the right and is a bit lower in the picture. I have a hose connected to it in the pict, it is hanging down to drain in the bucket.

OK found a few picts from when I replaced the starter. The line you want is the one with the white insulator that is on the lower right, thats the cooler return line. The other line with the white insulator is the feed line to the cooler. Hope this helps.

It appears they relocated the fill hole back farther on my 2010. I had to remove the bracket that hold the O2 sensor harness in order to remove the fill plug. There's some kind of rubber grommet in the spot where the OP's drain plug is.
The plug is by the arrow behind the bracket.

What synthetic transmission fluids work in our truck?
Thank You

I used Valvoline Max Life ATF, which according to their data has synthetic base stocks. It's WS rated, and is quite a bit easier on the wallet than the dealer provided stuff. 3 gals will do the job.

Does anyone know what size hose to use to fill the trans?

What size are the cooler lines on these trucks? I need to buy some steel line and rubber hose so that when the cooler line is disconnected I can get it in the drain pan without making a mess.
3/8 should work the fluid is not under great force when being pumped out.

use whatever you can find that will fit on the end of a thin funnel. Walmart/Harbor freight sells a nifty fluid pump also. up to 3/4 should fit in the tranny opening
