Transmission Tailshaft Seal Leak

I'm looking at buying a 2007 Tundra, DoubleCab, 5.7l.

I hired a mechanic who does nothing but inspect used cars for sale. Below is my report. My concern is the noted transmission tailshaft seal leak and the transmission fluid burning off exhaust.

The truck is in good general shape. 2 owners total. Doesn't look like heavy use, certainly not by current owner.

Do y'all know if this is a common problem? Indicative of other bigger problems?

Also, any idea if the leak and the burning fluid might be two separate issues or related? Obviously y'all have nothing but the little info posted, but if you could offer up some insight I'd appreciate it.

I haven't yet talked to the inspector, but will.

Thanks for any help!

I assume you mean drive shaft, not drive train. The shaft is pretty expensive. I want to say over $600 for a new Toyota drive shaft assy, but don't quote me on that. It should only take 30 minutes or so to replace it so whatever the shop labor rate is multiplied by .5 or .7 hours.
