Really cold mornings have gotten my 3 year old stock battery to struggling. Granted not too bad but it makes we want to head the problem off at the pass....

What battery brand do you recommend.....

I'm considering a Duracell. I can get a 710CCA for right at $100.

All opinions appreciated.....

Pretty much anything made by East Penn is good.

My 07 OEM battery went 7 years. I replaced it about a month before I bought my 14. I've had good service out of Everstart Maxx Batteries in my boat and I've had bad ones that didn't last a year.

From what I understand, Johnson Controls makes many different battery brands. Including the Everstart. Just curious about what experience other have.

Batteries choices are dependent on what your intentions are or additional components you have on your Truck. Generally speaking I have a 2000 watt sound system so I choose the better of the 27 group battery (NorthStar 27F). If it is just for starting I would steer you to get a battery in the 800 CCA range and AGM type battery.

The dealer replaced the battery in my '07 in '08 due to acid leak(hold down strap over tightened, leaking acid) with their "Truestart" Toyota unit, under warranty; it was still in it when I traded Dec. 21 this year. That's 8 years and we have cold winters in Maine, especially in the north where I travel to go snowmobiling; -25*F overnight is typical

I have been using Costco for batteries for a while now. Yesterday my battery crapped out on me yesterday and I went to Costco. They do not sell 27F sized batteries...
Went to the dealer and bought an OEM Toyota battery.

The last one was also a Toyota battery. Installed 10/25/2010 @ 84k miles. I'm currently at 199k miles, so that battery lasted me 116k miles and 6.5 years.

Toyota "Truestart" batteries are made by Johnson Controls

Yes, but it was for the needs of my installed accessories and hate the dimming headlights. I paid to play without stressing out my starter, alternator and ECU.

I did some extensive online research 2 months ago when my stock battery went out in my 2014 CM. (I believe everything i read online - J/k :) I found that 90% of the batteries sold in the large retail chains and autoparts stores are all the same Johnson Controls made crap battery. They are all the same and just re-labeled for each "brand". I also found out that Interstate is not what it once was and they are now made by JC. This is true of the ones sold at Costco as well. Stay away from all JC batteries. The company's model, from what i have read, is to make a battery with an expected life of 2-3 years, therefore selling more and more batteries. I don't know if this is 100% true, but my experience is that batteries from years ago would last 5-7 years and now every battery i have bought in the last 5 or so years has only lasted 2-3 years. That is why i decided to look elsewhere. I found that East Penn makes good batteries in the USA. I found the easiest way to get them is the Duracel brand sold at Batteries Plus (also look for Deka batteries). This is what i went with and i am happy so far. Do some research, you will probably end up with the same conclusion i did. JC made batteries are junk. Also, Optima is now made by JC as well. They, just like Interstate, had financial problems and JC came to the "rescue" by buying their brand. There are still good AGM batteries out there, but Optima is NOT what you want them to be anymore.

Carquest used to sell the Deka brand of East Penn batteries but now have started selling some brand called AutoCraft and they are made by Johnson Controls.
