I did some extensive online research 2 months ago when my stock battery went out in my 2014 CM. (I believe everything i read online - J/k

I found that 90% of the batteries sold in the large retail chains and autoparts stores are all the same Johnson Controls made crap battery. They are all the same and just re-labeled for each "brand". I also found out that Interstate is not what it once was and they are now made by JC. This is true of the ones sold at Costco as well. Stay away from all JC batteries. The company's model, from what i have read, is to make a battery with an expected life of 2-3 years, therefore selling more and more batteries. I don't know if this is 100% true, but my experience is that batteries from years ago would last 5-7 years and now every battery i have bought in the last 5 or so years has only lasted 2-3 years. That is why i decided to look elsewhere. I found that East Penn makes good batteries in the USA. I found the easiest way to get them is the Duracel brand sold at Batteries Plus. This is what i went with and i am happy so far. Do some research, you will probably end up with the same conclusion i did. JC made batteries are junk. Also, Optima is now made by JC as well. They, just like Interstate, had financial problems and JC came to the "rescue" by buying their brand. There are still good AGM batteries out there, but Optima is NOT what you want them to be anymore.
