Ok so first let me say i absolutely love my Tundra. I purchased it brand new at the very end of April this year.. fast forward to now, not even 3 months of ownership and right at 7300 miles on the odo. I have gradually noticed the coolant in the reservoir tank get lower and lower and i started smelling coolant. Look all around no leaks anywhere. Today i take it in, sit in the waiting room for 3 hours until someone comes for me to talk about the issue. Well, they say it has an internal coolant leak somewhere and the master tech and shop manager need to keep it so investigate it further. Hopefully Wednesday i'll get an update on the issue, fingers crossed for nothing major. For information purposes, its a 5.7 Crew Max TRD 4x4.

A buddy at work had to get a new short block on his brand new truck because of that one. The block was actually porous and it would weep coolant.

My sequoia had a leak on the back of the radiator at the bottom. There was never any coolant that I saw on the ground but I could always smell it. Couldn't see it unless you took the fan shroud off and looked at the back of the radiator.

So just an update, i stopped my the dealership to grab a few things out of my truck and talked to everyone about whats going on. So they had to send the head off to see if it had any sort of crack or anything..now we play the waiting game again. I was told since it was so new..less than 7500 miles that Toyota Tech had to be involved and that they are the ones calling the shots. The two most likely repair options are to either rebuild the head or simply replace the engine. I'll keep this thread updated when new info is available.

Hello

In my limited knowledge ,i share with you this same problem
did you over heat your truck as this can involve a head gasket if help see the below link

http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tu...er-warranty-issues/662954-tundra-2010-5-7l-overheating-issue-3.html#post8740378

as always dealer more problems then solutions
in those 3 hours you wait they could perform: compression test ,CO2 test and Bolck test to discard head gasket leak

look on the top of transmission bell passenger side also look on the pipe water inlet using the space on the PCV valve cover my truck its a 2010 and i found the main leak there

hope this help

Finally have my truck back! Was told the head had a small crack in it. Thank God no issues arose when i took it on a 2000 mile road trip in June. Anywho, they replaced the head. I will keep a close watch on everything for a while to make sure everything is how its suppose to be. 3 weeks with the Tundra, and stuck in a Rav 4 sucks!! Hope this doesnt happen to anyone else.
