I just got a new set of Yokohama Geolandar I-T G072 installed on steel wheels for the winter for my 08 Tundra DC. I plan to install them somewhere near the end of November. Can I used the lug nuts for the Factory TRD aluminium wheels with the steelies? They appear to have a slight taper seat. Or will I have to get a new set from Toyota?

From what I remember seeing in the manual, it says you can for the spare, but I dunno as far as if you can in a permanent situation...

My TRD lugs aren't in mint shape anymore as the previous owner used them in the winter. I may eventually replace them for a nicer set. It also has the factory "locking" lug which I don't like (wheel theft is non-existant in my area).

Does anyone know what thread/size legs the Tundra takes? I may just get a cheap aftermarket set for the winter then.

I actually have a spare set of lugnuts sitting around for the 2nd gen...

We aren't talking aluminum lug nuts, aluminum lugnuts are stupid. it's ephing aluminum, the O.P. meant for aluminum or steel wheels, not the lugnuts themselves...

The entire idea of aluminum lugnuts is about as good of an idea as using a sandwich bag as a condom... STUPID... Just saying.

Yes, but don't the steel wheels use a tapered seat as discussed earlier?? What type of lugs do the Tundras use that have the base steel wheels.

I know my wife's Toyota Prius sedan has steel wheels for the winter and it uses taper seat acorn nuts, while the summer wheels uses a similar style to my Tundra lugs (with a washer).

I am 100% certain that the Suburban used M14 x 1.5. Just because it's american car doesn't mean it uses only SAE fastners. Since the late 70's most American cars have slowly made the switch from SAE to metric, although many use a mixture.
