Metallic rotation sound when cornering?

Not clicking. Nothing felt in the steering wheel. Not at any specific speed.

1 - Brake dust shields
2 - wheel bearing
3 - loose brake pads
4 - rotors

Most likely rear axle bearings. They wear, causing the brake rotor parking brake hat to rub the dust shield. There was a .tsb, not sure what all years. My 2010 was affected by it, and needed them replaced around 30k miles.

(not that it could be proven)....

If one gets new brakes and rotors and the old rotors get beaten on for removal, might that damage the bearings???

If it is the bearings that need to be replaced, do people use Toyota parts to replace or is there a better aftermarket choice?

Thanks!

Happened to my 07 Tundra last year, it was the rear wheel bearings. Dealer wanted $ 2400.00 labor and parts to replace. Toyota has redesigned the parts package and hopefully mine will last better than the originals, which failed at 95,000 miles. The part pkg has new bearings, seals and new brake dust shields. I bought the parts from a discount Toyota parts dealer for about $700.00 and did them myself. I did have a tough time finding someone with the right equipment to press the old ones off and press on the new ones, and ended up paying $ 250.00 to them.

Thanks for letting us know!!! A few weeks ago I was on the Booneville Salt Flats. Couldn’t resist it but I had to have some fun with donuts, drifting, etc. You get the point! Since then a rubbing noise just like you explained comes from the rear end when cornering at certain speeds.

BTW, it is pain to wash off all of the salt! So worth it though!!!👍

So it was the dust shields after all?
I had my bro in law replace my pads and machine the rotors.
About 1.5 years after I got the slight rubbing around corners.
Took to dealer and said whoever did my brakes didn't machine the backside of the rotors, so an area of small rust buildup was contacting the dust shield.
Claimed he includes machining new Toyota rotors because the tolerances were too tight and led to contact even on new brakes.

Might be a load of BS 🤷‍♂️
