yep, sure is. No center console, black interior. Had it two days and I really look forward to the drive to and from work! Such an upgrade over my old Dodge. (2002 quad cab long bed)

New to the forum and just picked up a nice '16 DC 8ft bed. I hadn't mentioned anything and even the salesman called it a unicorn.
Congratulations and welcome to the "club"! :)

Funnily enough, I also called mine a "unicorn" soon after I saw it, having seen 8' beds disappearing from the light truck market.

Yours has more "bling" than mine--mine is Bright Red, with the "factory-blackout" treatment (I'm joking--it's the base model's metallic-gray front bumper and grill, with black insert), so I don't have to change my grill to black, because it's already black, like the mirrors, etc.... Yours looks great with the chrome, given the dark color, btw--I've just noticed that some folks here do like to black the chrome out, on certain colors.

The running boards I got put on mine came OFF a 2016 like yours (but it was white). They are black, solid boards that fit up tight to the bottom of the truck, not the tube-style. The dealer swapped them at purchase of our CPO 2014. Allegedly, they are Toyota's "most expensive, cast aluminum, OEM running boards" (so the dealer said) and have a black, non-skid surface. They are SOLID as ****--if you jump up and down on them, the only thing that moves is the whole truck--LOL. I highly recommend them over anything else I've seen--IF solid footing is the primary goal. I also think they look the best of any I've seen, but obviously, that's personal preference.

Actually, just I looked on their website but couldn't find them. If you're interested, I can crawl under them and probably find a part number.

And re: this:

Mine too--and I'm loving NO center console (my tool bag goes right on the floor, on "the hump," which is a consolation prize for me, as Tundra's don't come with manual shifters, like my old, pre-1997 Fords did). Black interior. My trim level seems to be "sub-SR5," yet it's a huge upgrade, as you said.

I'm still "jazzed" about what my "base" Tundra has, for conveniences--off the top of my head:

Eight (I think?) air bags, 4.30 gears/trans cooler/towing package, ABS, "trailer sway control" (or whatever it's called--haven't towed yet), ESC, powered/heated mirrors, power windows, locks. Actual, working A/C! Cruise-control, adjustable-height headlights, backup camera--I guess I'm just easily amused, but I'm LOVING it--I'm sure you will too! EnTune, of course, but the speakers and *cough* "amp" are very lame. That is one thing I will have to attend to.

Does your SR5 have intermittent wipers? My truck does not, but I've read (here) the upgrade is relatively easy, and done just by swapping in the correct control stalk (approx. $100. for the part, I believe?)

I also got (but have not yet installed) the Toyota, folding "bed step" (or whatever it's name is).

Again, congratulations on finding an 8-footer!!!

Is there a center seat?
Could you post a picture of the floor were the console would normally go?
Thank you

That's true. The SRs don't come with it but it's a 5 minute job. One of those silly things they leave off to try to get you to upgrade. I still haven't added remote door locks to mine as that's a lot more involved.

Anyone know if you can get that bench seat with a 38 gal tank now.
I know when I bought the 2017 I had to get a more premium package SR5 with bucket seats in order to get the 38 gallon tank. I am wanting to possibly buy a couple more of these for the business, just not crazy about having to pay for that higher trim package just to get the big fuel tank . I have owned 3 of these Tundra's I know exactly how thirsty they can be, so a 38 gallon tank is one of the those must have options for my business needs.

As far as I know the SR5 upgrade package is required to get the big tank. It was that way when I ordered my 2018 and I suspect is still the case.

Many people have lamented about this and ultimately gotten the upgrade package anyway just to get the larger tank. It isn't that much money especially if you can negotiate the price and the extras that make the truck much nicer to drive in general are worth the money.

I am still not a fan of the huge, space wasting center console but other than that the power adjust seats w/lumbar (no upgrade just gets slide fore/aft and recline), the auto dimming rear mirror, and tilt/telescopic steering wheel are must haves IMHO.

Too bad they don't make a Crewmax with 8.1 box in the TRD trucks.... I'd buy one.

I went ahead and did a build and price check and yep, still required to get the big tank. Not sure how or why they have this bundled like this. Make 0 sense to me, a work truck is likely going to be working hauling loads and pulling trailers etc etc, it would only make sense to have the large tank at least optional on an SR trim 8ft bed truck.

The Bench seat is a little better suited for what we do, in the sense it provides a little more cargo space on the interior and when the main duty of our trucks is delivering products we sell, every bit of space counts.

I agree with you on the extra options in that they are really nice, my personal use truck is a Platinum Tundra. LOL Which automatically gets the 38 Gal tank.

That's possibly a decent solution, since so far all the Tundra long beds I have found in a 500 mile radius of me are all either SRs or SR5s without the upgrade pkg, basically meaning none have the large fuel tank.

The alternative which is what I had to do last year, which was buy an F150 ext cab long bed 5.0 V8 ( since I refuse to by an eco-boost) XL with a bench seat a few decent upgrade options inc their large fuel tank. Which is likely what I may end up having to do again this time. F150 long bed extended cabs are still a bit rare, but are bit cheaper and generally easier to find.

I paid $31k for my new Tundra off the lot in Denver 3 years ago. I couldn't find a similar F150 for that price. True you can customize nearly everything on a Ford, which is very nice. But you'll probably need to special order and it won't be cheap.

The only reason I'd want the big tank is more range while exploring remotely in the west, but I figure I can just use jerry cans which have some advantages.

The 38gal tank should be standard on all these trucks since the mpg's are low and they all come standard with the 5.7L DOHC now.

Plus, if you're like me, you try to buy gas when the price is lower, so the longer you can go on a tank, sometimes you can skip fueling up when it's at peak price.

For instance...

When I filled up last time 87 pump was $2.18 a gallon and today it's $2.40 a gallon.

I know it's a small savings, but doing that over the life of the truck adds up and I also don't like giving more than I have to in USD to the Saudi oil gods and their OPEC crude oil cartel connected partners.

Try towing a 8000k RV trailer and getting 9.5 mpg. It puts me at about a 200-225 mile fuel range...I wish I would have known about the larger tank back in 2013 when I ordered my 14'. But I believe they came out with the larger tank in 15'?. In 16' we RVed up to Alaska, and I first saw "All" the Tundra's in the Fairbanks AK. dealer all had the larger tanks. I was like darn>>>>>I would have come in handle on the Alcan where the gas stations are 40,50 and sometimes 100 miles apart.

My dealer has told me they only come in the WT. And only in a couple colors (at most). They recently told me ( a month ago) that 2020 or maybe it was 2021, you'd be able to get an 8' bed in a trd. I've been asking for that option for a few years now. TRD-SR5-8' bed. I'd pay for that!

Didnt realize these were rare. Love my long bed. Base model 5.7 with a tow package and a long bed is the perfect truck for me.
