Home link programming problem

Brand new 2012 Platinum. Home link will not program to one specific door opener. Looking for help.

1. Used Owner's Manual to program two of three door openers, but unable to program third (all units about 12 yrs old). All units are rolling code type. Two are Python and one is Legacy. Actually, Legacy is the oldest by a couple months. Was able to program the two Pythons, but not the Legacy.

2. Called Home Link on the phone and worked with them for about two hours trying everything they suggested. This included clearing out memory of the truck, and all door closers. Nothing changed.

3. Called Overhead Garage Door and they sent out a repairman. Worked with him for a couple hours, basically doing the things that had been done with Home Link. Still the same results.

4. Through testing we've been able to eliminate a problem with the specific button on the truck; however, I have three oher vehicles (one with Home Link), and they can be programmed to all three units.

5. It appears that the door receiver is working, but not seeing this particular signal from the truck. At least the truck is able to communicate with the other two openers.

Anyone had a problem like this?
Anyone have an idea where the problem can be located?

I'm stumped...

It depends what year the truck is compared to the garage door. The craftsman I used to have (18 years old) worked with my 2007 tundra homelink. I got a new motor and the remote won't sync with homelink. Something about it will only work with 2009 and younger vehicles. Might want to try see if it works with homelink on an older vehicle. Although your motor is newer, the model might be older.

Good thoughts... Yes, it does work with older vehicles. I can get a new board for the opener for about $80, but not certain it would solve the problem. If it is the truck, I need some empirical evidence to show the dealership. My intention of this thread was and is to isolate the problem... Thanks again.

Yeah, mine never worked either. Kinda a POS device. Manufacturer and dealership were of no assistance. I just carry the factory garage door opener... But by all accounts mine is supposed to work too.

If you figure it out post the key to make it work. I have 2 rigs with the same Homelink system, it would be nice if one of then worked.

I was able to get the home link working on all three buttons and three garage door openers. If you read the instructions they talk about using the remote to establish that the openers are rolling code (or not) and then there is no mention of using the remote again. Mine were rolling code. What I found is that I needed to use the remote just before each of the attempts for each button on a specific opener. Yeah I know. Not in the book, but worked for me when nothing else would. Good luck...

Couple other things to look for....research the model of your garage door opener and it will tell you if it has a roaming code or not, also some garage door systems will only allow you to program a certain amount of openers/homelink and it will not accept anymore. Find out how to wipe out the system and start fresh, see if that works.

I'm getting a new garage door and opener next week. Glad you shared this with us.

Thanks

I am also having issues programming my 2010 Tundra with my LiftMaster garage door. I came across this paragraph from LiftMaster. They are saying basically if you have a car older than 2011 with Homelink, you'll need this repeater to make your Homelink work.

Disclaimer: This is if you have the newer LiftMaster garage doors using the new Security+ 2.0.

The New Security+ 2.0 LiftMaster Radio in LiftMaster's New Garage Door Openers & Gate Operators

In 2011, LiftMaster released Security+ 2.0, a new version of our remote control radio code. Security+ 2.0 increases radio range and virtually eliminates interference under most conditions. Most older vehicles will not communicate directly with the radio and will require a "Repeater Kit" to upgrade the in-vehicle remote system to be compatible with this improved radio system.

One repeater can control multiple cars and openers; if all vehicles in the garage are HomeLink only one HomeLink repeater is needed. If all vehicles are Car2U, only one Car2U repeater is needed. Both repeaters are required if different vehicles sharing the same garage have systems made by both interior suppliers. Consult your vehicle owners' manual if you are unsure of the system installed in your vehicle.

Here is a video showing how it works with the repeater. I'm placing an order now and will post my findings.

Whereas if method allows rolled scripts, you will need to utilize a working control that has been in use in the past and the opening transmitter in order to get the home link facade to operate with rolling scripts.

I had trouble with this too. 2017 Tundra. Fried my garage door opener logic board and replaced. Could not get the darn lift master to pair with the truck, even though it previously had. Was about to erase everything when I decided to put a brand new battery in the remote I was using. That did the trick. Note- mine is not a rolling code type...although when the pairing fails, the Homelink in the truck flashes as though it is (as described in the owners manual - Rapid flashing for 2 secs, then solid)
