Sorry for the delay guys. It's been crazy trying to get ready for the 1st annual Toyota Truck Day in San Antonio Texas and still keeping up with orders, so please bear with me if I'm slow to respond.

So here's a little info on the truck:

2013 Tundra. Daily driver test mule. For these tests I converted the truck to off road use only and trailered it down to Mexico where I paid off the federali's to allow me to drive like a maniac;) For the record: headers are JBA long tube with 3" collector. Exhaust is BAmufflers true dual system, no cats with mechanical simulators and no pending or active codes of po420/430. This system utilizes an X pipe as close to the collectors of the headers as possible and mufflers which were designed after countless hours of R&D specifically for use behind JBA headers. And full tailpipes out the back. Dyno testing proved 49hp and 89 tq over stock to the rear wheels. Also, 1/8 mile times dropped from consistent 10flat (actually won a trophy when truck had less than 300miles for closest to 10flat in my class) to consistent 9.3!! Air fuel ratio at full throttle is very consistently about 12/1.

This truck also runs TRD supercharger plugs which I understand are 1 heat range cooler for those days I feel like injecting a little laughing gas.

After updating my GT I set up my tunes. You may set up 3 tunes labeled tune A,B, and,C. There is also the choice of returning back to stock on that screen. Here's how I set up the tunes:

A.
Tune-performance
Shifting-performance
Speed-unlimited.

B.
Tune-tow
Shifting-performance
Speed-unlimited.

C.
Tune-stock
Shifting-performance
Speed-unlimited

So, how did it feel????..............

A. Throttle response= sweet!! Not all touchy like a sprint booster, and not all laggy like stock. It just felt 'woke up'. The power feels 'more at your fingertips'. The truck actually moves out of its own way. It feels lighter. It's a different truck. I wish I could keep this tune on my truck all the time. The a/f ratios unfortunately weren't safe so as long as I didn't stab the throttle too hard, or floor it i got to enjoy a much more responsive truck. The gearing felt much more right on too. Waaaay more low end torque. The truck didn't downshift because a butterfly landed on the accelerator. It holds the gear. It's kind of hard to explain without sounding like I'm exaggerating, but it really is a different truck. Idk of its just because of the headers and bullydog together or not?? I'll know this weekend after downloading the same tune into a stock truck.

B. throttle response was just as badass at performance. A/f ratio was safer, but still much too lean for my liking. The same shifting characteristics were in the tow setting as was in performance.

C. This setting is how I will run my truck from now on Whenever im testing in Mexico. Hopefully BullyDog makes a tune similar to performance, but it only adjusts timing and can phasing, but doesn't change fuel. Unfortunately I don't get all of the benefits of tune A. But I still get better feeling shifts. And there is no longer a speed governor. Also, I think this setting may be a canned 'stock' tune from BullyDog and maybe not the actual stock tune. It idles smoother and seems to run smoother. It's much more predictable as far as a/f ratio is concerned too.

All in all, I love this tuner!! At first I was really disappointed when I saw the a/f ratios, but I'm convinced that its too lean because the exhaust system is much more free flowing than a stock truck. I will know that for sure on Saturday, I just got word that our dyno guys just bought a brand new wide band for their dyno. I will also test this tuner with a BAmufflers bolt on system to see how the 2 work together. And as stated in the BullyDog thread, I'm bundling up the BullyDog with an exhaust at a substantial savings.

This is good news indeed.

Great feedback Keith, thank you!

I read in the other BD thread (the huge main one) that an engineer from BD may have been trying to reach you. Did you guys get to talk? I am very hopeful that they will offer a tune that does everything except for the fuel changes.

If they will work with you and your JBA headers/full 3" race exhaust, the outcome should be incredible.

I'm curious what the tuner will do with other exhausts and intake mods that some have done.

We all know how swapping exhausts can cause a lack of low end for certain exhausts, most say it takes longer to shift.
Thanks for your testing.

I know it is probably hard for you to say without actually being able to test it, but do you think it would be safe to run the performance tune on a stock tundra with only TRD exhaust?

I'm far from being an expert, but IMO, the TRD cat-back does not affect the air-fuel ratio ANYWHERE near enough to cause a problem with the BD tuner.

The BD tuner COULD be an issue with some cold-air intakes, headers or really custom exhausts, but not a simple factory-safe cat-back.

FWIW, I'll be running the BD with the TRD cat-back next week, probably Wednesday... Will post results.

My guess coincides with Ron. As long as you have stock manifolds a d stock cats, I'd say a/f would be safe. We will know this Saturdsy. I will test a bone stock Tundra on the dyno using a brand new a/f sensor. Unfortunately it's going in the tailpipe not before cats, but it will give us a very good idea of what this thing is doing.

I will of course update the tuner on Tomorrow night.

Thanks for the info Keith. I'm not going to be installing mine now because of your findings of what it does with the long tubes and full race exhaust. I really hope they work something out so the people long tubes and full race exhaust can use it.

I just ordered spoolins shift kit, how do you think that and the shifting improvements the bd tuner offers will work together?

Deeds, i'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for these trucks now. Especially knowing that you are in touch with the BD engineers and running ideas by them to try to get even more gains out of our trucks. Thanks for all you're doing for the tundra community.

I really hope the premium tune won't go over lean with just a K&N drop in and a really free flowing exhaust...

I was told that our trucks ran really fat, and I believe it.

What a/f's were you seeing ?
