The newer (09) ones have a reinforced edge to help with the side crumple. I really forgot which year they redesigned that 09 or 10. I believe there are some pics on TT or TS . You take the "window" out and look for the reinforced corners.

 

I am concerned with the mounting and fit.

 

Mounting and fit should be exactly the same. Half of 08 and newer have a "reinforced" tailgate.

My original tailgate had a run-in with a trailer jack. I was able to find a brand new one the same color as my truck for $300 plus shipping. The guy had installed a topper when he bought it and no longer needed the tailgate. He pulled the lock.
Mine is an 07 and his was an 08. His had Line-X on it.
Perfect fit. Swapping the lock and backup camera where a breeze.

The tailgate had the old owners VIN number on it, I just scratched it out in case I was ever having it worked on at a dealership and the grease monkey entered that VIN instead of the actual VIN.

I think this price is fair.

 

I can't decide whether to get one or not. It matches my truck but my truck keeps picking up little nicks and dings. I could buy it and next week have a worse scratch than I have now. :dunno:

 

Get one, remove the badges, then buy a big piece of clear bra and cover it in one big piece. No more worry about scratches. Reinstall the badges over the clear bra if desired.

 

I debadged my truck except for the SR5 emblem. It just kind of looked like it belong there.

I made a deal with a member for some adjustable 5100's. Got a chrome exhaust tip from another member.

Now I need a white passenger door, steering wheel with hand controls and this tailgate and I would be all set

 

Is it safe to say their white tailgates are gonna match my white 2010?

I mangled my tailgate the other day with trailer jack as well.

I'm in Tampa & would imagine it would be very pricey to ship one of those from Tulsa.

$275,350 seems overpriced for the lot.

Seriously, I would hate to get one and then realize the body paint is noticeably faded more than the take off tailgate. Then you need new paint job to match the tailgate and then new lights to replace the hazy ones that now stand out. Man the mods never end.

 

If people pay that much, I'll sell mine. I can live without a tailgate for that price.
