Thanks for letting me borrow the picutre I didn't want to go find mine.

Mine is a double Cab.

 

Anyone with a DC? I am looking for a spot to mount a prodigy P3.

 

I will get ya pics later Yorky but mine is mounted right above gas pedal on bottom of dash.

 

Mine is under dash right next to console.

 

Mine too and never had a problem. I thought it would be in the way but I have never hit it or even brushed against it.

 

Mine is located just below and to the right of the steering column. It's a nice unused space, easy to drill a hole to run the wires through and route them to the oem harness.

 

Where Tox has his mounted. Is about the only place I have. If it wasn't so bulky. I'd say above the rearview mirror.

 

I have a '08 DC give me an hour and I will post pics. Mine is right under the steering column. Like Directly across from where your knees are when sitting in the front seat. Im 6'0 220 lb. and never ran into it. At first I thought it would be an issue or I'd bump into it. But never once its like its non existent.

Here's another showing where it is in relation to my knee while driving. I'm 6' tall and 260# so I'm no little fella.

 

That's where mine is mounted as well. I'm 6'4 & don't have a problem.
I also mounted mine w/ heavy duty velcro in case I didn't like the position. It hasn't come off in 90+ degree or -4 degree temps.

 

Mines an 06 DC however basically the same steering wheel surround.

Mine is located just below the steering wheel to the right straight down from the ignition. There is a little spot that you can drill a hole through to run the wires. Very short run to the harness.

 

mine is a 08 crew max I mounted mine down by the parking brake have never hit it with my foot. I tried mounting where luke 08 4x4 shows his mounted but my knees kept hitting it . I will snap a pic of it this afternoon and post it. I like mine being out of sight and can still reach it easily to adjust the output.

 

mine isnt a nice fancy one like the ones you guys have but it works

My wire harness (from the controller manufacturer) was more than long enough to either get to the center of the console as Toxarch did or to the ash tray mounting location that I used. In my case, however, I did use the mounting bracket for my controller and had just enough room to get the nuts and bolts through the bracket and into the top of the ash tray cubby hole. My controller just snaps into its bracket, making the last step quite easy. rider

 

My local trailer shop actually talked me out of the P3. He said they've had several returned and Tekonsha told them to just swap them out and trash the old ones. Here's a thread that appears to blame the problems on the early units:

That's why I went with the P2, which I mounted in the same place as the one in this video:

I think your main consideration in mounting the controller is that you need to be able to grab the manual lever quickly in an emergency situation. I have had to do this on a couple situations when I had to stop quickly.

I have my Prodigy P3 mounted on the dash to the left of the steering column high enough that I don't hit it with my knee when I get into the truck.

 

Exactly! Easily reachable for emergency activation.

 

I've seen the posts about the guys mounting the prodigy in the cubby under the tow/haul button. I did that to mine just now and was noticing that it is not exactly in line with the truck. If any of you guys that have mounted it there read this, do you have any problems with it working correctly? I know it is a momentum driven brake controller and the install instructions say to mount it directly in line with the truck. I think its close enough but I haven't towed with it yet. Thanks!!

 

Mikeyb76, our Prodigy is mounted in the cubby under the tow/haul button; and it has worked fine towing our 19-foot Airstream for the past two years. We just "set it and forget it", like on the cooking shows. That wiggle is only a few degrees, which is insignificant in actual operation.

 

i stupidly mounted mine above the ebrake i thought it would be fine well lasted about 20 hours there

 

Mounted mine in the Cubby for us Non-Console Peeps!

 

For you guys who mounted your control in the cubby hole or in some other inconvenient place, I hope you are not going to be towing in the mountains as you will need to use the manual lever almost constantly when descending a long steep grade. Can you do that?

 

Dude I LIVE in the mountains and I never use my manual lever when towing. never have, even when towing a 30ft enclosed Shadowmaster full of tools, tires, and a dirt car (not in my Tundra though).

 

I just know that if I had not been using the manual lever to activate my trailer brakes going down the 7% Eisenhower grade on I-70 in Colorado, my truck brakes would probably have been toast. I would not have made that descent without using the trailer brakes manually. That is why it is there.

 

Same place as Toxarch too. I used the Tekonsha harness, just extended it a bit to reach. I used the Tekonsha mount as well. I find that it works great and is very unobtrusive.

 

I know this is a pretty old thread, but here's where I installed my P3.

 

Ok, gotta ask, how did you tighten the mounting screws for the bracket, for your contoler?
