TRD Dual Exhaust

So I recently went to a dealership to hear the TRD Dual exhaust. Just about cried from how good it sounded on the 2014 Tundra 5.7 v8. Does anyone know where I can get the parts for this instead of the dealer or the manufacturer? Super expensive when I go to them. :D

Do a google search but usually runs around $900 give or take from what I've seen. Check craigslist and ebay.

Your local dealership might be the best route. It was cheaper at Sparks, but the shipping tipped the scale in the other direction. So I just purchased the exhaust from a local dealership and had them install it. The total was around $1100 including tax. Of course, if you find a good used one, that would be cheaper. But good luck finding one.

I bought from the FL dealer as well off of eBay. $970-990 shipped to my door (don't remember the exact price).

I will tell you that the droning is terrible from 1500-1900RPM. It sounds like a helicopter in your cab. Waah, waah , waah... You'll hear this cruising and/or on a slight incline when you're just nudging the gas pedal to maintain speed. It drove me nuts!

It depends on your sensitivity, but I was getting ready to go back to the stock system and resell my TRD on eBay.

I just put the TRD system on my 2014 Limited Crewmax and have that helicopter sound. I'm struggling a little to get used to it. Such a shame since the exhaust sounds great most of the time...But that darn "waah, waah, waah, .....

No drone here.

When I was shopping for an exhaust, I knew nothing about Keith's exhaust. I looked into TRD, Borla, and Corsa and decided to go with TRD. From the video clips I've seen and energetic (sometimes too energetic :)) championing of BAMuffler, I would certainly consider it.

People buy different things for different reasons. Remember Always looking bumpers? People championed his bumpers as enthusiastically as people do with Keith's exhaust today. So what happens to the warranty service if something goes wrong now since people seem to have difficulty contacting him? Some people feel more comfortable buying from a larger company and that fact does not make their action 'incredible'. Just saying.

If you like the TRD dual exhaust, and if you are buying new, here is one way to do it. Work it in to your deal very late in the negotiations and get it added for a few hundred bucks on a truck that does NOT already have it. The dealer installs it so you don't lift a finger. You take the stock exhaust home and put it in your garage. Now, for very little money, and no effort or time invested, you have the TRD look and sound you wanted You also have the original factory exhaust ready for you several years down the road or if you ever get tired of the TRDs. It's cheaper that way than what it stickers for on a truck that already has it, and you have a 2nd set of exhaust ready when you want/need it as a bonus.

TRD exhaust is a nice sounding exhaust from what I have heard seeing them around town. I had a TRD exhaust on my 03 Tundra and it droned bad (This is most likely due to the 4.7L engine)

If you go with TRD do the ebay buy for the $990 and install yourself unless you aren't wanting to work on your own truck or you make $200 an hour (in which case your hour of time for install isn't worth the savings)

If you decide you want to look around for exhaust systems, BA Muffler does have a great rep on this and all other tundra sites. I have mine on order after switching from a MBRP Split Side Dual system.

I ordered the BA Budget system from Keith and he can talk to you on what your needs are. Heck, even if he feels that sticking with the TRD is the better option he will let you know. I will have to see if it is drone free with the budget system but I have heard his 8" system and there is zero drone and a nice tuned yet mild note to the exhaust.

I have also had Corsa exhaust which sounds very good but also carries the $1000 plus price tag even on ebay.

@Bolocop

You are completely correct that in the long run this is not a large amount of money.

These Tundra's are awesome and they definitely make you want to spend money everyday.

In the last month alone I have purchased the BAMuffler, 22" TRD wheels with brand new Nitto's 305/45R22 tires, interior LEDs and am always looking for more things to add. All offset slightly by the sale of my MBRP exhaust system and 22" wheels previously on my truck.

I have tried with both Tundra's I have purchased to get them to throw in a supercharger, but it has never worked. Should have added the supercharger into the deal this time..hind sight is 20/20.

I found the cheapest price on the internet, then I went to my local dealer and asked them if they would match it. They did, and it was here and installed in less than 24 hours even though they didn't stock it. It was cheaper than Sparks, which everyone seems to promote as being the cheapest.

I will say that the TRD sounds awesome! It does drone like hell at about 48-55 mph, and if you have one and don't notice it, then you either have a different exhaust or you're deaf. It is pretty much unbearable towing a boat on level ground at 50-55 mph if you're in 5th or 6th gear.

I just wanted to put that out there, because I researched extensively before buying, and the general consensus was that there is no drone with the TRD. I would advise others to take that opinion with a grain of salt. Under the right conditions, there is plenty-o-drone.

I must be deaf since I don't hear it. :dunno:

Have you ever cruised in 6th gear at around 50 mph, or worse, pulled something at that speed? Maybe I have a bum system or something, because mine sounds like the cab is inside a pulsating bass drum.

It goes away with a downshift, or change of speed, but nobody that rides in my truck would ever say there's no drone at times.

Maybe I a nut job but the only exhaust I have ever heard bolted to this 5.7 that would motivate me to reach for my check book is the Corsa Sport.

Sounds to me like this thread should be titled "I need a BA Muffler".

The Corsa Sport is very nice other than the high price tag it comes with.

I will see this week how I like the BA Budget System.

I wish I had initially purchased a BA Muffler due to the slight drone caused by the MBRP system and of course losing money when having to sell it used.

That's the system I made sure my Brother bought when he told me he would hold out for a dual-catback, that didn't drone OR loose low-end grunt. As soon as Keith told us he developed a system that uses the TRD rears, with NO "grunt-loss",I told my Brother, "there's your system"! He's as happy as a dog in dirt!

Just a thought. We are not confusing the exhaust drone with resonance due to the moving air, right? I am wondering because some mentioned noise sounding like helicopter, which sounds very much like the air resonance. This phenomenon is present in any system with air-moving past it, sort of like how you make sound with a flute. If you hear the helicopter sound check to see if the sound goes away when you crack the rear window. If it goes away, that's not the exhaust drone. My wife's minivan has the 'helicopter' noise at certain speed and that's NOT the exhaust drone. Even BAMuffler will not be able to prevent air resonance.

I love mine! Sound, performance and looks. But I didn't pay for mine. Took the truck in to have tires switched from my 08 double cab to my 12 crewmax and the dealer hit my truck. So not only did they have to do the body work and repaint the entire side of truck but they put the trd exhaust on for me.
