Just installed a Tekonsha P3 and the thing never shuts off. It is supposed to shut off after 15 or 20 minutes after the truck is shut off, but this one never shuts off. After installing it using the Tundra specific adapter I set the settings on it. I went in the house and a couple hours later went out and checked it and the thing is still on.

I found a post where a guy said his started shutting off as stated in the install instructions after he hooked up a trailer the first time. I'm going to try that this morning, but I'm not overly convinced this should be necessary. I called Tekonsha and they assured me that it would shut off eventually, but here we are 12 hours later and it's still on so who knows. At least I'm not the only one.
Mine stayed on for a bit after installation but now it is off. Have not hooked up to trailer yet.
Well lo and behold, shortly after my last post I went out getting ready to hook up the trailer and take it out to adjust the controller and the damn thing was off. Go figure. We'll see how long it takes this time around. Not a big deal, but it's odd that some turn off and some don't within the time specified in the instructions.
