Rocker panel plugs???

Can anyone tell me what the row of rubber plugs in the bottom of the rocker panel are for? I was looking for a place to DIY courtesy lights and saw them as a possible option, but don't want to screw them if they serve a purpose. The area does not appear to be sealed. Any ideas?

You can use them but don't remove them, take em off and drill a hole through them for your wires, the hole will mostly seal back up and you will have to force the wiring through. Install your wiring and then put the plug back in place to keep out debris.

I'm guessing they are hole plugs, as Toyota calls them. We put them on the Camry and Avalon to keep moisture/dirt and what not in holes that were used to fasten something. I would suggest keeping them there or covering the hole back up somehow.
