I know a lot of people on here have the sport bumpers (wish i did) but for us that are less fortunate and dont want to spend 12 hundred bucks just to have color matching bumpers, has anyone on here powder coated the chrome bumpers? I am thinking about doing this to mine but just wanted to see some pics first to see how the gap looked between the top lip of the front bumper and the actual bumper. Any pics or just overall opinions on how they think it would look would be appreciated, Thanks.

I was told powder coat wouldnt scratch and that rocks being spit up and hittin it on the road wouldnt scratch it like if i painted it.

Im kinda shocked no one has powder coated the chrome bumpers yet. I am deffinetely willing to pay 200 bucks a bumper then over 1200 just to get the sport bumper's.

I spoke with my powder coater yesterday. He said the coating would stand up better than paint but will still chip and scratch as all coatings have limits. His biggest concern was color match and the difference in paint fade over time. In my opinion - LineX is a much safer way to go.......

Line X is going to chip off too. all things will. A colored bumper will look like a colored bumper no matter what coating you use. Is that a bad thing?
Powder coating should last a long time though. You could touch it up several times before you need to do it over

I have front powdercoated white and rear powdercoated black. You can not color match when powdercoating so I just picked the closest match and i cant see a difference. Had them on for over a year and they have no chips and no scratches. Spent $250 for powdercoating and did all the removing and installing myself.

Sounds right, I have done both my Land Cruiser and Tacoma bumpers. I usually go with semi-flat finish but they can do gloss and even a hammered finish. I usually like the slight contrast of the flatter looking finish of the bumpers. Matches the grille, wheel and flares (unpainted) finish.

I dinged up my rear bumper so I had to order a new one anyways and it comes powder coated from eBay. So I just have to get the front chrome pc then painted. Unless theres a cheaper option I would be really annoyed if there was a noticeable difference in the top and bottom half of the bumper. One of those things where no one can tell but you kind of thing.

I just got quoted $150 per bumper, 3 day turn around.

LineX guy wanted $250 per bumper, 2 day turn around.

I think after the first of the year, I'll take off the bumpers and just get them powdercoated. They shut down for the holidays mid next week and he didn't seem like he wanted to take on any more work before then.
