I needed a license plate frame for mine. AZ had a clearance and the frame with the slighty smokey cover was cheaper than the same frame without the cover.

I went ahead and put it on. I got pulled over by a state trooper and got a warning that only had my information and

Illegal Vehicle.

just to play devil's advocate here... lets think of WHY people can't tint their windows too dark. its a public safety thing. It is important for others to be able to see you in your vehicle in case you need to signal them for whatever reason. Also, and most importantly for cops, when an officer pulls you over for example, and walks up to the side of your car.. you could have a gun pointing at him/her from behind the glass, and he/she wouldn't be able to see it. I think cops are pretty stringent on that law because it directly relates to their safety.
Cops need tinted windows for varies reasons as well. Too be honest, if you are worried that you cannot see a cop in their cop car, you are probably doing something wrong and deserve to be pulled over.

EDIT: now a days, it is illegal to drive without a seat belt and to use your cell phone/text (in some states). How can cops enforce this if they cant see you?

just sayin. dont hate.

Don't care.

sooo... a cop doesnt need to see if a passenger in the rear of my vehicle has a gun to my head?

or a gun on him? lets ban tint on any window, hell, lets ban tint on buildings too, cause there could be a person with a rifle about to snipe any one of us and WE WONT SEE THEM?!!!

i had a really good buddy that was a cop, he had limo all around his cobalt ss, he said that most cops in my state laugh about the tint law, as long as it wasn't excessively dark, they would let peeps off... even a nother buddy with an srt8 cherokee that got pulled over at least 8 times got a tick once for tint, and then got pulled over in his crown vic interceptor that was limo, and he got a tick for that, but only cause the cop said the tint made it look like a cop car lol.

and i have never NEVER seen an actual police cars fronts tinted, if you have, next time take a pic...

do you seriously think that if you are a person that plans on shooting a cop in the face that you really care whether you have tint or not, is the tint going to affect teh outcome? hell to the no, if your gonna shoot the cop in the face, your gonna shoot him in the face regardless of tint...

If it's that much of an issue,(and it may very well be these days),then the Oficer needs to order the occupants of the vehicle to lower the glass before approaching. Most if not all Police vehicles have loud-speakers for announcements........right?

cmb, they usually do. they will come up to your vehicle, stand near your back window, then tap on the glass with, say, a flashlight until you lower your window, thay way you cant shoot the cop from that angle.

I lower the window every time I get stopped. I have driven cars with no tint. I spend so much time in a car that I can say, a long trip in an untinted vehicle is misery.

All of these laws were implemented on the coasts in the beginning because of criminal activity. I have what is considered illegal tint on every one of my cars. I have never been harrassed about it.

I do drive in Missouri a lot and they can't have tint on their front windows.

Wheenver I get pulled over, I always lower all 4 windows immediately and put both hands on the top of the steering wheel..to make the cop feel safer.

Exactly. I carry a CW or three so I don't want to give the LEO anything else to worry about.

My Tundra only has two windows.

Is this the pot calling the kettle black?

commas are not essential, but consonants are. "Pat, I would like a F and solve the puzzle please."
LOL just kidding donka. I enjoy post typos.
The correct way to say this is, "Pat, I would like an F and solve the puzzle please." :)

Yep,thats pretty easy on our part since they're the ones taking the risk! Cops have enough to think about! They get :respect: from me and mine!

Why exactly is fog light mod illegal? Is it too many lights on at once?
Yep, in most states you can only have four lights on at once. With the mod you'd have six on at the same time.
Also have heard that the fog & highs cannot be on at the same time. Not sure about that one.

But most definitely only 4 lights at a time. I got pulled for 4 lights: lows, DRL's and the HALO's in the 4 spotlights. Had them wired to come on with parking lights. Only a warning though.

Best advice: stay around the speed limit. Keep the spotlighting in the country. When making a turn at an intersection with a stopped LEO= turn off headlights at least for HID's and lifted trucks. Keep the radio down, eventually you'll need your hearing. If pulled over pull over somewhere nearby off the road possibly well lit. Put on 4 ways, turn off all lights except parking & interior lights, roll all windows down (especially on tinted windows), turn off engine. And talk to them how you want them to talk to you.

I see the same guys patrolling the city on the way to work. At lights I'm usually drinking my coffee. And give them a wave or something. Most of those guys are just looking to do their jobs and go home to their families. Some are just in love with the power.

Having family in the Military and LEO. I respect the jobs those guys do. I've had give a thumbs up or tell me they like my truck. Had a trooper ask me to pull over, just because he was in the market for a Tundra. Only had one negative encounter, he got an attitude with me. I returned the favor & got the citation to go with it.

That's some good advice. Btw, you're not in Cali are you? Not only is everything illegal in that state, the cops will pull you over for too many bugs on the windshield, or so I hear:D

Never been to Cali. Do they offer to help clean the windshield? Scratch that I saw the Rodney King/Reginald Denny videos, I'll have to pass

1. Tint
2. Blacked out tails
3. Non-adjusted headlight after lift
4. Lack of mud-flaps (I keep them in the truck in case I get pulled over)
5. Stereo too loud (when going through certain towns)
6. Lack of fender flares (depending on county/state)

Eh... I drive the speed limit most of the time and the PO PO usually are cool with me when I tell them there are 3 loaded guns in the vehicle with me. *shrug*

100% legit here. Not worth the trouble to even get pulled over for a warning in my opinion.
Plus hard to get yearly inspection sticker here if I had dark tint, wrong headlights or any other add-on.
