I've actually been a member here for a few years but can't get in through my old account (jbarbaresi). I currently have '13 TRD Rock Warrior crewmax that I'm thinking about letting go and replacing with a new TRD Pro model. The only obvious problem for me right now is that I can't find one in stock.

So, how are all you TRD Pro owners finding your trucks? Did you have to special order or did you get lucky? Any search engines that help locate them?

I've been doing individual inventory searches at all the dealerships around me and haven't had any luck at all, the only TRD Pro model I've been able to find was for a Tacoma.

I'm located a little south of Houston in League City, if anyone has spotted one on a dealer lot or knows a good way to track one down please let me know. Thanks!

I think some people are using different car search engines to find them. I personally went to my local dealer and told them I wanted a pro in magnetic grey crewmax. They took a $500 deposit and ordered it for me. Took almost 2 months to come it.

I got lucky and called at the right place and time to get my '16 TRD Pro... After owning and driving a '05 Nissan Titan with 125K miles, the transmission went out, cost me thousands in repair, and the braking system ABS started having issues, so my initial search for new Tundra begun.

In hind sight, I should have just bought the 2nd gen Tundra in '05 and it would have probably still running today, I was disappointed with the quality and build of the Titan...

So with that said, my initial search for a new Tundra begun in the middle of summer last year...the initial trim model that I was interested was the 2015 Limited model TRD Off Road model, but the model year was changing so was hard to find the color and models in my local area...

Then came the 2016s and one of the several local dealers called me to take a look at a new truck that just arrived…I came in and saw this brand new magnetic gray metallic TRD Pro Double Cab model…wow I was so impressed… however, the trim level that I really wanted was the Crew Max…so I had to let go of this one…next day, they the TRD Pro DC was sold…

So the TRD Pro is definitely hard to find and I thought about getting the Limited model and adding the TRD Pro suspension system and other Pro cosmetic features, but that path would have caused several $$$ and to make a long story short, did not make sense…so back to the drawing board…

After about a couple of days, I got a call from big volume dealer and sales guy said, “this just in”, one TRD Pro Crew Max MGM model coming in about 45 days and he said, if you want, put a $500 deposit down and you will get it. I put in the deposit down, paid MSRP for the first time, and the rest is history…

So my advice and if you want one, talk to all the local dealers in your area and put a deposit to let them know you are serious…good luck

I have been a Sales Manager for a Toyota Dealer in CT for 3 years, They do not build a TRD PRO with out a pre-order sale. If a dealer has one it is because they got extremely lucky or lied that they had a pre-order. We usually have to fax our district a purchase order and customer information along with the allocation request. Toyota will not do a factory order, its all about what is already in the allocation Mix for any given month. If they are not currently building the vehicle in your specification and color it could add to the time it takes to get one. They will stop taking orders for the 2017 TRD-PRO around February so if you think you want one don't wait. Come March and April it will be nearly impossible to get one till they start building the 2018's is they offer the PRO next year.

District 4 has reached its maximum orders of both Tundra and 4Runner TRD PRO’s. Please pass this information along to your inventory managers and sales consultants. Any orders that you give me will not be guaranteed to be filled since other districts have to be willing to lose a vehicle.

I know you are most likely looking for a NEW truck, but just thought I'd mention that I saw 2 Tundra TRD Pro models listed in the Austin Craigslist a few weeks ago. Both of them were practically new ~1,000 miles and needed to be sold for hardship reasons. I was just looking around and there they were. Don't get too excited, they are both gone now. Point is, if you can't find what you're looking for locally, you never know where it might show up.
