I just noticed that I have a driver side footwell light, but not a passenger footwell light. Is that normal? or should I be looking for something? I tried looking for a light under the glove box but I did not find anything....anyone?

Do yourself a favor and get two kits. Splice one into the other and put the second kit in the rear for lighting in the back. I'm going to do exactly this on the weekend.

I was thinking under each front seat... If not then Plan B will be to attach the strips right to the bottom of the center console. Plan C is behind the rear seats but I don't think the light will project that much.

What many of us have from Vled and are on clearance from just a week ago:
V-LEDS 6K White Foot-well Kit 07-Up Toyota Tundra

Vled's latest which I just seen when looking for the above..3X as bright. Interesting.
V-LEDS WHITE 6K FOOTWELL STRIP LIGHT STRIPLIGHT SET 3 CHIP TUNDRA ALL

3X Brighter Footwell Kit
Adding that perfect touch to your interior lighting couldn't be any easier! Simple plug n' play installation using the stock foot-well light socket. Only takes a few minutes and the results are phenomenal! Our Strip Lights use the highest quality 3 Chip CREE LEDs for maximum output and lifespan. These strip lights are 3-5 times brighter than standard strip lights. They also feature an all black PCB with blacked out components and an ultra thin profile.

craaaaap, just bought the older weaker 5K kit to replace my 6K kit from them a couple weeks ago. should have waited

Just ordered the 5K 3chip for the front and rear and will post a pic after they're installed. thanks for the link Marky Mark and the coupon code in the other thread TowTundraTow.

The 3 chip should be plenty bright, The diode surface area is huge and they're so much closer together. I've used 4 chip in a few projects and have been impressed with them, these should be sweet!

:D Funny you say that.. I used the 4 chip LED's for lighting on a Map Display for the forest service. It was Bright lol:cool:

Got the light-strips the other day. Already have a pair mounted in the front and ordered these for the rear. Dosen't seem like it's gonna be as easy as I thought. Only idea I have is splicing additional wire between the two sections. The added wire would be under the front Husky-Liner.Mounting 'em to the rears of the seats would work UNTILL the front seat needs to be adjusted. I'm thinking mounting them to the rear of the console would work but may end up blinding whoever gets into the rear seats:banghead: Probably "over-thinking" this....as usual:p Any ideas?

Do you have under seat storage in the rear of your truck? If so you can run a wire to the rear like you said spliced from the front set. Run the wire under the factory plastic door sill that hold the carpet down. they pop up and have lots of room to run wiring. the front on the underseat storage compartment has lots of area to mount the LED strips. if this doesn't work for you anywhere under the rear seats that is a flat surface would work. this way the light won't blind the person getting in. Best of luck

** quick question about the VLED light strips **
The small plug on the wire harness supplied by VLED does this plug in anywhere or it just cut off? I haven't looked at the back of the little factory bulb on the driver side. thanks

The V-Led plug replaces the bulb in your stock light-socket. I don't have a rear cargo devider. You're saying there's power in the sill-trim wiring that works with the doors? If so,I can "stick-it" with my tester for power when doors are open and closed, right?

Thanks,, I should get mine wired up this weekend. I ran a wire down the RH side of the truck to the rear under the black plastic (below the doors) from the small front light, looking under your seat area is there any flat long surface to mount to?

I'm not sure about mounting these lights to the rear of the seats. Upon moving them for any adjustments, we'll be pulling on the connections! Maybe up underneath the seat to the sides of the console? This insn't as simple as it should be.I normally have my rear seats raised up ,so theres' pretty good mounting spots ,on each side, at the base of the seat mount.

I gotta do this soon, thanks for the heads up on the new kit Mark.

#22 ·
Coach do you have any pic of how you mounted the LED strips in the rear?

#23 ·
I'll get the rears mounted tomorrow and post up a pic for ya. The 3 chip lights are impressively bright.

the coupon code is "15off " I think it ended on 10/3 at midnight but not sure give it a shot.

Yep, I'll need some direction on the splice and rear mounting of these lights too.I fried some fuses over the week-end, attempting to splice into the front light-strip:p. Mashed down too hard on the 'splice-tab' and made contact with the metal inside:eek::D

I have the old light strips. They are plenty bright. Don't think I would want them any brighter. Too bad they are discontinuing the old ones.

installing lights Front/rear now and will put together a DIY with pics

Just finished the VLED install front and rear. all in all it took about 1 1/2hrs I bought 2 of the front foot well lighting kits (3 chip 5000k) The fronts were a breeze and plug right into the factory light bulb socket. the small one in the driver foot well area. After finding polarity (black w/white stripe is +) on the VLED's I was able to tap into the wire harness and extend to the rear seats. I just used 18 gauge speaker wire. its overkill but have a 1000ft spool. :) I ran the new wire down the RH side of the truck under the factory sill covers they pop up and off. Removed the under seat storage and then fed a stiff piece of wire from the edge of the carpet where the jack is and into the sill area. taped the wire I ran from the front and pulled it through. I soldered and heat shrinked every connection except the connection that plug into the rear lights so If I ever need to remove the under seat storage I can. ( male/female crimped connectors) If possible don't use the plastic splices on these wires. the wires are so small they either slice the wires or don't make a 100% connection soldering is best. The rear lights are mounted to the under seat storage bin using a small piece of aluminum I bent up and painted black, It's 3m taped to the storage bin. (Rear VLED's are aimed at 45 degree's) I also was able to tap into my LED door handle mod I did a month back but hadn't wired up yet. everything works great and will post pics of actual light output when its dark. until then here are the install pics. ** If anyone needs brackets fabbed up like I used let me know **
