Favorite color/easiest to keep clean?

I’m getting close to heading down to the dealer and pulling the trigger. I was leaning towards a black Tundra with the red rock leather interior. Then I read more than one person here comment on how incredibly difficult it is to keep the black clean. Never had a black car before. I really like the Magnetic Gray Metallic, too. Is that any easier to keep clean? (Although I have to give up the red rock leather if I go Gray.)

Opinions?

Thanks!

For your first try with black, DON'T make it a Tundra. Too damn big and it's a steep learning curve. The Tundra is a huge canvas to create swirls on.

Of course, if you take your time and have 2.5 hours a week it's hands down the sexiest color! I like red, cops don't. I got white.

Silver and white is best for looking clean.

But damn black is just sexy when clean.

My vote is the Silver too :)

Silver to clean but really like the Magnetic Gray for looks.

I've owned quite a few black vehicles and everyone has been a challenge to keep clean. The body lines look excellent with darker vehicles but there's a price to pay for the darker colors.

You guys are killing me! :)

Tundergas, your white one looks really sharp! What color is the interior?

The black one is just so bad ass! I kind of had my heart set on it. And while I might spend 2 1/2 hours a week cleaning it the first couple of months, I'm a realist... that isn't going to last.

Decisions, decisions...

Sorry for the delay. My interior is black fabric. LOVES lint and hair. I have a dog boarding business so I'm constantly vacuuming. I also have a four year old so the light interior is out.

Have you made a choice yet? I will tell you this, white is not my first choice but both my vehicles are white, both are dirty right now, and I can't begin to describe the immensity of the f*ck I do not give because they still look good! :D

I love my radiant red, it dosent show dirt as bad as black but its not easy to keep clean either

Black is sexy when cleaned up. I also got it cause it was the easiest to color match. But the paint sucks and swirl marks are everywhere. When it's waxed, it looks awesome. Like everyone else said, I don't have 2 hours to clean/wax it all the time.

White and Silver are the two easiest colors to keep clean. White was my second choice.

Silver hides dirt the best. Even when it's grimey, it's hard to tell from 10 feet away.

However, with the right sealants, you can make any color easy to maintain. Now that I know what products to use, dirt just washes off.

My current vehicle is silver and it does look good even when it's dirty. :D
I live in the arctic and for 7 months of the year I am unable to wash it, at least if I still want to be able to get into it and drive it!!! :hilarious:
The temps remain in the minuses for months and the good carwash closes for the winter in October and doesn't reopen until April.

When I purchase my Tundra later this year it will be.............................SILVER!!! :D

silver all the way! i had a black truck before this one and although looked sharp when washed, it quickly showed every bit of filth, scratch, and dent. the silver is kind of bland to me but it's always consistent.:D

I loved my Slate Metallic when it was clean and shiny...but it was hard to keep clean and would drive me nuts. I just bought the Silver Sky Metallic.....and it sure does look clean even when its dirty...

I posted a picture several months ago of my very dirty silver truck and one member commented how shiny it was.

So I'm thinking I've been talked out of the black. I'm digging the white and always liked the gray. Going to head down to the dealer and hope they have both in stock so I can have a look in person.

Thanks guys.

Silver hides dirt well, but nothing beats white, honestly. My black Tundra isn't too bad, I don't have to spend a ton of time on it. I'll never get another silver vehicle...paint is too hard to match in case of any body repair.

white is fairly easy to keep clean, but silver is even easier

ok, not the easiest to keep clean...but SO worth it!!!!

BARCELONA RED - all the way :D

btw, my last 6 trucks from most recent (before the Tundra) were - Silver, White, Gray (Charcoal), Silver, White, White. All but the Charcoal Gray one were MUCH easier to keep clean looking. So this was my first truck with any COLOR since I bought a new Ford Ranger Splash in 93 when I was 20 years old....it looked exactly like this one -

Flint Mica! Seriously? Its dark gold...hides dirt/scratches really well. After having a midnight blue jeep for 7 years I am over dark colors and obvious scratches!!

Speaking as an ex detailer, pollen, dirt etc tend to have warm pigments to them, therefore colors in the champagne range will obfuscate dirt best, followed by silver. When combined with the desired light reflection to give the appearance of shine, and thus cleanliness, silver wins. The worst are black and white. Dirt has pigment and those paints do not so dirt sticks out like a sore thumb. My last 4 were black and now both mine and wife's are silver for a reason. My OCD about clean paint and life no longer get along as they once did and as much as I love black, I doubt I'll ever own another

I'd like to hear JumboJet's opinion but his is silver too so you can imagine :)

My Desert Sand Mica hides everything...not the most popular color but I like it. Black is sexy when clean but a beeotch to take care, I know I have a black car and my detailer loves me.

I have owned 3 black cars and never will again (no matter how great they look new/clean).

Dirt hiding characteristics be damned, silver and white are soooooooooooooo common.

I would rather have a Desert Sand Mica or similar earth tone before a silver/white shade.

But what the heck do I know--I wound up with a Blue Streak Metallic cause I thought it looked cool... .

Desert sand was my choice for that reason, do not have that much time to dedicate to wash my truck, it looks clean when it's not. I also like my previous white truck it does not show the dirt as other colors, my solver truck looks to dull when dirty, maybe it needed a better wax.
Had a black truck and was not happy with it, when pollen is on the air it is just difficult to keep clean.

black is def the hardest to keep clean and i almost bought one till they found me a silver one,my last tundra was blue streak metallic, wasn't difficult to keep clean but wasn't easy either.my silver crewmax hides alot of the dirt and road grime,i was it about every other week and it still looks good in between washes.if you like white,i believe the red rock interior is available with a white exterior.
