5160 bilsteins

Fellas of your running these did they come with the rubber spacers/bushings? Mine didn't and I was very worried about this. I called customer service to make sure this is how they run and they said everything would work and I didn't need the bushings. Well only a month of having them installed the stem or stud snapped off coming out of the grocery store. Does anybody have them on without the bushings? I'm currently waiting to here back from customer service to return completely.

Maybe customer service meant to say you don't need new bushings? Attached is a copy of the installation instructions from: Bilstein US online catalog

Quote:
Install the complete shock/reservoir assemblies on the vehicle in reverse order of removal. Reuse all OE upper stem mount hardware. Use provided Bilstein lock nut.
(emphasis added)

Warranty is 90 days; with restrictions for "improper installation."

I couldn't see your attachment. I had ranchos but the bushings would not fit. The 5160 should come with bushing that fit specifically for them.

Does the link to the online catalog work for you? You can access the installation instructions and warranty information at that link.

Yes, I checked and read it. Says to use old bushings but that didn't work for me. I'm waiting to hear back from the company so I can return.

For anyone needing this information in the future, the OE upper stem mount hardware includes upper bushing 48505-0C010, lower bushing 47131-0C010, and lower bushing retainer 48597-0C010. (Off-road packages have slightly different part numbers.)

There is the part numbers, order the stock parts and be done with it.

I got rid of the stock mounts when I put the new parts on. Going away from 5160's, really not a big deal just seeing if anyone has had this problem. But thank you for the words of wisdom. 👍

You're more than welcome...

I guess no one else had a problem since they read the instructions...
When in doubt, and you seem to be, RTFM.

If you did indeed mount those 5160s without bushings, may God help you with your future endeavors..
Good luck Bro..

Hmmm. Another thin skinner that got past security.

As 1lowlife noted kids: read the destructions (RTFM in his best French). Read them. Read them. Why in the hell don't people read them??? Coo coo.

I'm not completely useless. I can always be used as a bad example.

You were given friendly advise, 'er I mean advice.
The instructions read to use existing OEM bushings and nuts.
Since you tossed yours, all you'd have to do is buy some more.
But for some reason that isn't acceptable to you.

I doubt they will warrant the shock since you installed it improperly in the first place.
Did you really install a moving metal to metal suspension part without a bushing?
How did you think that was going to turn out?

BTW you might have found your answer in here:
https://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tun...iscussion.html

5100 rears use the same hardware, OEM.
https://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tun...0-install.html

You might want to research having a bit of a sense of humor and lighten up Francis.
You been on this forum for 6 years, you should know by now members often kid around and tease one another.
Good luck sugar..
Now walk away..
