I have had the pleasure of running aggressive AT (Grabbers AT2) MT (Mastercraft MXT) RT (Kenda RT). What we have realized is that as much as we really like the appearance/performance of some of our tire choices the economics of it doesn't make sense. We do more touring overlanding then we do serious off-roading (McKenzie Trail Type Stuff). We are on logging roads, occasional 2 tracks, and pavement. Maine offers GREAT overlanding opportunities but given private lands, etc. you don't get the same feel as some of the routes in VT or out west in the BLM areas. A Tundra in 4LO and a GOOD set of AT tires can and does get us through most anything we have seen and worked through. The more aggressive tires have always been that little extra insurance and at time's over kill.

Our rig is also a family vehicle when not loaded down. Dropping kid off to school, work trips, groceries, etc. We also live in variable weather rain, snow, and sleet (thank you northeast).

When doing our research and seeing the tire in the same size we run on construction trucks, it came to our attention we should give it a go on the Tundra. Also we run the P version of this tire on our 2015 Subaru OB, game changer, hello non lifted Wilderness.

We also want to thank @Discount Tire for the easy purchase of these. Easy website, awesome 6 month financing, AND an extra 5% off at check out. We have heard great things about shipping and expect nothing less when we receive them. No not sponsored or affiliate...yet? Wink Wink DT!

What we know is this tire is dependable, efficient, capable, and fits our needs at this point. Whats great about Yokohama is that it is a Japanese brand with a wide range of tire applications for 4WD and AWD vehicles. The compound with orange oil is AMAZING. It is grippy in the wet, this tire has 3PMS, sipes to boot, have open lugs on the shoulders, reinforced plys, and a successful history in rally racing.

What now? Pictures, of course pictures to come. After we get them mounted by Mainline Overland in Bow NH in Late March 2023.

Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Pictures and First Impressions
@Discount Tire this was amazing! Not 3-5 Business days, less then 24hrs! I have not seen this level of delivery...ever!

Lets start with I am a Fan Boy (Man) when it comes to certain brands...Toyota, Oakley, Old Man Emu, Yokohama Tires!

Do I like them, yes. Not only because of the brand and the technology but for the application. These tires are SO much more than looks. A lot of hard core guys will come up with a million reasons for why these are NOT good tires.

I see them for how they are GREAT tires. We have moved to a more 'Touring' style of Overlanding. We need a'Mileage' tire. A good in everything tire. A tire that rides well for the family.

The depth on tread is amazing at 18/32. The feel of the rubber is classic Yokohama with Orange Oil, I have another set on our Subaru. The spacing on the shoulder lugs is impressive. The sidewall looks to have a good amount of size for air down and softening of ride. The sipes are EVERYWHERE. M+S and 3PMS rated. Size wise they run at 33.3 which is .1 smaller then a brand new version of the current tire we are running. The tire contact are seems narrower, which I like for reduction of float and digging linearly not laterally into the surface we are working on, think tank track vs. marshmallow. I did notice the feel of the sidewall felt 'softer'. It is an E rated tire with plenty of plys in both the cap and sidewall, but I am wondering how they will inflate and 'stand up'.

Now, do we put the white sidewalls out or stay low profile with the black sidewall? First world problems, I know.

Let me know what you think!

Yes I know an unloaded, mounted, inflated tire will be taller then mounted and loaded. Style comparison side by side then a, 'hey look how much bigger they are'.

Gonna need a set of tires this fall. Those might just fit the bill. I do mostly city/highway, Tow every once in while. Would like a high mileage tire. How is the road noise?

I have Geolander 285-75-18 (35") on my 2008 Crew Max 4WD. Been on for 11 months, replaced a set of Toyo AT-IIs (33"). I prefer the Toyos. Yokos are loud, rough, marginal wet traction on paved roads compared to the Toyos. Toyo MTs an another truck seemed quieter them these Yokos. I bought Yokos because I could not get Toyos when I needed new tires.
