I still wish Johnson/Weld got more votes

however, I do find it hilarious that Dems are still so out of touch with so many voters that they are having such a hard time explaining what happened (maybe not most voters, but enough to put Trump ahead in the Electoral College)

Democrats are putting Trump in the White House, not Republicans
Everybody thinks we've seen 8 years of brilliance and he's getting ready to mess it all up. We're backing both Iran and Syria against each other in a regional proxy war in the Middle East. There's been riots, police ambushes, and terrorist attacks on American soil. Just a couple months ago DOJ wrote a letter to every school in America telling them to force little boys and girls to go to the same bathroom or face legal consequences. Millions of Americans are being forced by law to buy healthcare that's going up 20-plus percent a year. In a lot of these markets they're down to only one or two providers so there's no shopping around for a lower price. We have a president who's actually said climate change is as big of a threat to national safety as ISIS inspired terrorist attacks. People are tired of this shit.

All mainstream media can think of is 'dumb white redneck made bad choice.'

The communication problem isn't hard to figure out. For them it's inconceivable, impossible, unimaginable that a huge patch of this country detests their ideology so much that they'll elect anyone who promises to stop it, even if that person has a shit ton of other short comings. No way is that possible. They just can't handle that. Half the country must be stupid and racist. Way easier to process than that a bunch of people just want to be left alone.

Couldn't have said it better. I'm seeing a lot of scary stuff being done to and called for against white people especially white makes now all over the news. One white guy got beat up by two black guys and the crowd watching laughed, filmed it, and told him he shouldnt have voted trump. Might not have even voted for trump. In my own state in New Orleans graffiti calling to kill white people. I'm leaving for the weekend with my wife and youngest back home with mother in law. Leaving the shotgun home with them. Taking my oldest to Kentucky for hunting. Will be packing myself after tomorrow. I'm not really worried but stuff is starting to turn bad in this country. I'm scared of all people lol. Better prepared then not. It's sad it's come to that.

I think eventually things will calm down and people will start to get over this and what not and give Trump a chance. Hell if Miley Cyrus can accept Trump then anyone can lol.

All the new people with jobs who used to be living on the dole. Then you gotta ask, since when should government be paying for "everything" to begin with?
I predict the amount of frivolous spending he stops will be staggering...I bet it's in the trillions.

Hopefully planned parenthood is near the top of the list. They act like it will be a shame for women...so every woman that is of a certain age and doesn't have insurance to cover it should get an annual voucher for a mammogram and a pap smear. Good at any medical facility that can perform it. (Yes, even a planned parenthood clinic.) The women's health issue is dead and planned parenthood can't spend the money on anything else.

If taxes are reduced for the middle class and business, who will pay for everything?

His plan requires huge government spending.

All I can say is thank God the election is over! While Trump wasn't my nomination choice I'm glad he was elected, if nothing for what Nikolai19 said in his post http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/7977897-post819.html, beautifully said my friend! I got tired of all the robo-calls and thank-you Panasonic for the Block Call option on our home phone - didn't they make the Entune - well never mind! With all the protesting and rioting going on because DJT is the President Elect my final concern is when the Electoral College meets and determines who the next president will be, I've seen plenty of weird things happen this election season, this was my 11th presidential election to vote in, so I'm not taking anything for granted. Now I don't think anything will become of that but as much hatred and division we have in the country.

It'll be interesting to see what the Trumpster does as our President, his tendencies are more on the moderate liberal Bill Clinton side than I like but I'm guessing it'll be far right than what Hillary would be. How much cooperation can he expect from Ryan and McConnell will be interesting to see, my guess is very little from McConnell but quite a bit from Ryan since he seems to shift with the wind like the rest of the spineless GOP except for a few. He might actually get quite a bit of cooperation from the Dems but party line may rule and I suspect it will.

I don't know if they should carry on the investigation on the Clintons and their foundation, I sometimes think that if they would have impeached Nixon we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today but politicians love their power so I'm not sure if that's accurate. Hillary's political career is done, over, finished but the crap she was involved with needs to be addressed! I don't know if prison is the right thing but I'm thinking more like a huge fine, like all the money in the Clinton Foundation to be turned over to the US Treasury and then maybe a probationary period also. You know those that love the Clintons will take care of them. Any federal employee involved should be fired, jailed, and band from gov't work again as well as those appointees involved. But I suspect a pardon will be coming from President Obama for anyone involved

It's going to be an interesting 4 years and say good luck to the man as long as his policies align with my beliefs and the policies that don't I hope they don't pass, I just hope he doesn't take up the pen and sign any executive orders and only signs laws that have passed through both chambers.

Last thing, he will be our president much like Obama was our president and I think anyone who doesn't believe that doesn't love this country we live in

Trumpster checking in...been having too much fun watching all the glum faces on the newscasts. Meanwhile, rest of world moves on, and I'm optimistic again. Hope they can fix Obamacare before I have to take the bendover next year. I'm one of the millions that is self employed and buys family insurance individually and is not subsidized. I'm getting screwed hard and hopefully those days are soon over. Trump was my answer to the aholes coming around saying 'it's supposed to work that way'. Guess what, I and a few others disagree.

It's a great day in America (and also respectfully Veterans Day)! Can't wait to see what our new pres can pull off. He's beholden to no-one going in (except us). It's very refreshing.

I have to laugh at all the news anchors asking what it will take for Trump to "bring the country together". Numerous polls have shown that under Obama's watch, we have become more divided than ever. They sat by and watched as Obama tore us apart through both his actions and inactions, but they said nothing about it. But now it's Trump's job to come in and make things right again.

All these protests out there being held by kids in their 20's, the poor cupcakes don't know what they will do. This is the fault of a society that has had them growing up thinking you never lose. They were given trophies just for participating all their lives, and now they have no idea how to handle a loss, the little snowflakes are melting in despair.

I don't doubt for a minute that a more electable Marxist than Bernie Sanders will be waiting in the wings for some election cycle down the line. He has legions of college aged fans, many of whom will go on to get good educations and go into politics. Somewhere in there will be a cool, charismatic future candidate who can get their establishment backing in a way that Bernie didn't. The American people will vote on it, just like they did on Tuesday. Whatever happens happens. The postmortem is starting now. They'll try to figure out why so many Obama voters flipped for Trump this time. Some are arguing that this happened because they didn't go far enough to the left ideologically. It would miss the point, which is that socially conservative populism and nativism reared its head here. They didn't lose votes because they're not liberal enough. IF the socialist wing wins the argument and comes back in 4 years with a long list of globalist rhetoric, entitlements and tax increases, Democrats will probably be losing more elections in the near term. The eagerness to make this election about race rather than a huge cross section of the country not sharing their ideology makes me think that's what'll happen.

Those same cupcakes will still be around in 4 years but a lot of trump support came from older people who could be dead by the next election and that trend will continue, which could mean more Democrat presidents in the near future.

And 36 years ago, Reagan did much better with older voters as well. But some of those older voters were once younger democrats. They won't stay young forever, at some point, they will see how the real world works and become much smarter when they look at their paycheck and they see how much government is taking out of it.

IT has been hard to pin down numbers so far, but people are so buried in this stuff they're missing the point. Deep down in the weeds trying to find explanations by breaking down race, ignoring the ideology aspect. Latino turnout surged less than expected and black turnout was down despite Obama throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Trump for months leading up to the election. He told the black community over and over what they should think was on the line if Donald Trump won. Repeatedly said the country would get into a immediate nuclear war if the guy got a little bit irritated by something. Said that 8 years of supposed progress would be erased, that his legacy would be erased, that they'd be set back 50 years and everything would go to hell. That means a number of people in the black community reflected on what he said, thought about the last 8 years, then when election day got here still couldn't be bothered.

Trump bested Romney by a couple percentage points in each category and won a substantial number of people who voted for Obama in 08 and 12. His winning over former Obama voters and the disappointing black turnout are telling. Gotta look past racism and realize a bunch of people in this country who aren't racist either stayed home, or went for Trump. That says something about how unhappy and dissatisfied they've been about the last eight years that they helped elect Barrack Obama, but he couldn't get them out at the same rate when he told them her being able to continue his work was on the line.

People are blaming her turnout rates on voter suppression but I call bull shit. Obama got historic rates in 2008 and 2012 so people find their way to the polls if they're sufficiently self motivated. Early voting restrictions in a lot of states have also been blamed. PA has no early voting and the black population in Philly handed her a 450K-plus victory in the city in one day.

Read the Washington comPost today during my lunch break, and 3/4 of the opinion page articles were written about how Trump will fail, and all the white males that voted for Trump are going to be disappointed to have voted for him. The remaining 1/4 were articles examining how in the world Hillary could have possibly lost.

I am not even exaggerating, the articles are titled, "A Ruinous Victory for the GOP", "A Challenge to American Exceptionalism", "Is America Still the Leader of the Free World", "Someone Must Speak Truth to Power", "Trump Voters Won't Like What Comes Next", "Waking up to an Unrecognizable World". I don't think I read even one opinion that was at least neutral, they were all predicting the downfall of the US thanks to the American voter. 'Just so you know that the bunch of you are to blame.'

These people are not even waiting until after inauguration to declare him a failure. After a couple of years of Obama, with a still sluggish economy, didn't the press say he hadn't had enough time yet? Honestly, if the press feels so disgusted by Trump, they can actually place a good bit of blame upon themselves. They really didn't hammer him during the republican primaries, because they wanted him to be the republican nominee. NBC could have released the lewd tape of him talking about women at that time, and it could very well have caused him to lose the nomination. But instead, they held onto it until they figured it would do Hillary the most good. They wanted a Trump win, because they figured it would ensure a Clinton victory. Now it has backfired on them, Trump may very well have been the one best positioned to beat Hillary.
Its hilarious....that these are the same people that told us he would never win. Their credibility is suspect....lol

Ed Rendell: 'This was not the time' Clinton should have run for president - CNNPolitics.com

Ed Rendell, former Mayor of Philly, governor of PA, former DNC chair, Clinton surrogate, has a moment of honesty now that the election is over. Admits she was a flawed candidate who was handed the nomination because of relationships within the party establishment. They know exactly what they did and why they lost. That deal was made in the 90s when she helped her husband get re-elected. It was supposed to be Clinton, Bush, then Clinton again. Barrack stole her delegates and then left her with a party that couldn't get inspired by her. Probably Would have dusted Mccain in 2008. Then she went and became Secstate and was on the wrong side of most policy decisions in that area for most of his first term, only accumulating more baggage along the way.

Ironically Barrack Obama blamed misogyny for the fact that we've never had a woman President, seemingly forgetting that he himself out maneuvered her to take the nomination 8 years ago.

According to the MSM, the people rioting on the streets and beating up likely Trump supporters is just a natural reaction to all the hateful and divisive rhetoric that Trump used in his campaign. With their emotions so geared up, and then to lose an election they were sure to win, it is to be expected that this sort of behavior would be unleashed. Of course, Hillary calling you a racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, irredeemable deplorable....... that was just a message of tough love, it was good for you to hear that.

From August of 2014 on every police shooting of a white officer and an African American made national news and it made everybody think the shit must be happening at a skyrocketing rate, even though it wasn't.

From here for the next couple years, every racist thing anybody does to anybody else in America where they mention the word Trump will make national news. We'll be bombarded with the stories on a daily basis. On top of the real ones, add in the ones that will be hoaxes. IT will make everybody think racism in America went up 1000 fold on November 8th, 2016 when it really didn't.

For the third straight night, I can see rioting occurring in a few cities on the news. Could you imagine the rhetoric from the left if the Tea Party movement took to the streets and vandalized, burned things, and beat people up in reaction to Obama having won his election? I really can't understand why these cities allow this stuff to go on. I understand people having the right to protest, but there is no such protection for disobedience. As soon as the first rock or brick is thrown, they should be warned to clear out or face the consequences for not having done so.

And where is the President? Has he even given a call out to make sure the protests remain peaceful? He was quick to call out the policeman for acting stupidly, he was quick to come out with statements in such incidences as the Michael Brown case. But people can destroy and set fire to property, but since their is no ideological advantage to calling them out since they are fellow democrats, he won't say a word. It really is sickening.

The last 8 years of his life now amount to nothing. He put his legacy and his ego on the line by making this election about him and then the Democratic party suffered historic losses. He will leave empty handed. The history books will have to make up empty generalizations about furthering race narratives and shining a light on various things to make future generations look back on him fondly. HE's got to be pissed right now. Just hopping mad at the country. The last 8 years of his life just went down the drain.

There will probably be some interesting pardons coming.
