I was unable to open the hood on my 07 DC so after spraying a few can of penetrating lubricant and various attempt of pulling and pushing down on the hood while pulling the lever over a few weeks time I finally brought it to the shop for an oil change/tire rotation and let them deal with it. They used a tool to open the hood and then took the mechanism apart and soaked it for several hours before cleaning, lubing, and reassembling. The mechanism now works slick and the shop didn't even charge me for their time.
Unfortunately, I found the small spring from the release handle inside laying on my floor at the next day. The spring returns the plastic handle to the down position. Could anyone be so kind as to take a picture of the spring's location up inside the handle? I've stood on my head under the dash for longer than I care to admit without determining its proper placement.
