Hello, sorry if this has been covered. Looking to reduce the highway noise in my 2018 CM 1794. Just got a quote from Car Toys (DFW area) $3k for materials and install (dyno materials). Any thoughts? Seems pretty pricey to me

It's a pretty in depth job and can get up there in price. But $3k is insane.
Considering that you would need no more than $4-500 in materials, you're looking at $2500 in labor. Are they doing the inside and outside of the doors? Are they building steel panels to cover the door holes? Are they doing the floor and roof? If so, I can see getting to that price. But if not, I would get another quote.

No steel panels, but they will do the entire inside cab. Floors, firewall, all doors, roof and back wall (with the power window). And they will add a thick foam layer to the floor.
I know it's a lot of work, but you're right $2500 is a lot for labor.

Second thought, going to do the doors myself, probably going with the Dynamat Extreme material. $151 on Amazon... we'll see how this goes.

I did all my doors (inside and out), back wall, and entire floor area in my 2014 DC.
Didn't do the roof.
Did Dynamat all over and Dynaliner on rear wall and under the back seat.

Took me a weekend.
Wife immediately noticed the difference in the noise reduction with my BA muffler and road noise.
She thought I was nuts when I pulled out the entire interior of a new (at the time) truck..

I think I over did the doors because they are heavy and slam with the slightest closure.
I put in on the exterior door skin where ever I could reach it.
I'd put less on the inside of the door (on the plastic under the door panel as pictured) if I did it again..

There is no fu(king way I pay someone $2000 to do it.
Watch a bunch of youtube videos and go for it.
Just be easy putting your interior panels back in, not so much the door panels, but the trim panels.

Dynamat (CLD tiles) is a great start for vibration dampening, as well as a closed cell foam (CCF) to eliminate rubbing. The next step for a true noise barrier is going to be a Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) layer. Covering every square inch of your interior in Dynamat is overkill and not necessary, although Im guilty of this as well. lol. I saw the absolute biggest benefit in making my interior quiet once I did the MLV. I have Dynamat on my roof, doors, floor and rear wall, Second Skin Heat Wave Pro (radiant barrier) a layer of CCF and finally a layer of MLV. I did the install myself and with materials I was around $600

This is making me want to do more sound deadening. I just cringe at taking out my entire interior to do it.

I did my 2010. All doors inside outer panels, and inner skeleton area, as well as rear wall inner, and outer, and the inside of the between panel that the 2010's had, and any part that I had access to while installing speakers, parts of the floor etc...

It made a huge difference even though I only used FatMat extreme (pretty sure it was the extreme). I did not do the entire floor as I didn't have enough time to remove my entire interior.

The doors alone made a huge difference. Night and day quieter vs my 2017 Plat. Both trucks were/are CM's.

I would not pay someone 2500 in labor to do it though. I would diy.

There really isn't much to it.
Remove the seats and console (if you want), the interior panels pretty much snap on and off.
Just be careful snapping them back in.

Give yourself a couple days or a weekend to get it done.

Yeah, no need to rush it. I did mine over a couple of weekends. I set a goal for the day and then wrapped it up by the end of that day. Unless you have enough space to close up the garage and leave your truck gutted inside over night. I did my doors on Saturday, then my roof on Sunday. The next weekend I did my floors and back wall. Super easy to tear these trucks apart.

Thanks for all the info and pics, gave me the confidence to give this a go. Did all my doors, went with Noico (less expensive route). Really noticed the difference.
However, driving in the rain really tells me that I have to do the floors and maybe the roof, very intimidating.
Not doing this for audio, just for quiteness during the ride.

I bought my MLV from Sound deadener showdown... that link I posted. He will help you calculate how much you'll need so you're not wasting material. He has the exact material figured out for a Tundra

I am gonna do this once I gather the testicular fortitude to pull my truck apart. Im just simply too much of a poon to do it currently. Scared I'm gonna break something as I tend to do most of the time. This thread is as good as any to make the sticky list IMO. Im nobody here, but seems like it has some really great info for a really great mod to our trucks. Thanks yall.

I here ya, but these guys are right, pretty easy to take these trucks apart. I was hesitant, but gave it a go. Did my doors, used Noico.

I think I will just go ahead and order a few of the clips that I know I will bust off when removing things. The ones that pop in and out. I can't think of the actual names of them. Then when I destroy one or two, it won't be a game changer. Considering thats my biggest worry, I really should just dive in. I just REALLY hate rattles, and I feel like when I pull something apart, I always end up some rattle that I can never locate. Then Im wearing noise canceling headphones while driving down the road.

We will see how it goes.

BTW, in your pics, is that our trucks normal stock speaker in the front?

I hear ya with the clips, lol. Yes, that's the speaker that came with my truck. Not sure if all the trim levels are the same. Good luck.
