Removing Speed Limiter

78238 Views 58 Replies 22 Participants Last post by  H2O MAN
I searched and searched and searched but could not find any answers other than the UNICHIP system. Please don't mention the unichip system in any responses, I'm trying to get intelligent info on how to remove the speed limiter without having to purchase 3rd party hardware and I'm sure a lot of other people on here would like to know the same.

Top speed is 110 mph or so, it's TRD supercharged w/SC reflash.

Are there any fuses that can be pulled to achieve this like the ABS fuse?

I don't care if I also deactivate other systems in the truck like ABS, VSC, Auto LSD... I deactivate all that when I hop into the truck anyway.

Thanks in advance!

VSC is definitely the culprit. That shit kicks in even when I'm going normal speeds through mountain/canyon roads. If my truck sways too much, then my power cuts out and I can feel the grinding/braking feel under the truck.

Pulled the abs fuse yesterday at the track. Truck runs perfect and removes the speed limit.

Does the speedometer work or is that also disabled?

Wonder if a switch could be wired in series with the fuse and controlled from inside the cab? It would be kind of neat to have a "go fast" button on the dash. :D

That's a fantastic idea, and absolutely doable. That might have to be the next mod!

Speedometer will not work and you may get a check engine light go on.
My check engine light came on for the first time because of this. Check engine light turned off when abs fuse was put back in.

** It's not a good idea to go past the speed that your tires are rated for. **

Can you post a picture of what fuse this is.

No pic sorry. It's the 40 amp fuse located between a 50 and 30amp fuse. I actually looked at this thread on my phone at the track just to make sure I was pulling the right fuse.
ABS 2.

Wired a switch for the abs2 fuse. To avoid a CEL you must have the truck on when you turn the switch off, then back on before turning truck off.

Did you splice the wires from behind the fuse connection or used a fuse tap?
Using a fuse tap would leave no trace of meddling with the ABS in case of warranty

what i know is the following:
1. TUNDRA 2007 to 2009 is having the same ECU re flush. when u re flush it there will be no limit
2. TUNDRA 2010: when u re flush it., the max speed will be like 125
3. 2011. when u re flush, there will be no change in the limit speed

to take off the limit speed, u can disconnect the 2nd cable of the ABS. start accounting from the battery toward the ABS box.
for ur information 4WD will not operate

Sometimes we need laws to keep us from getting killed. Why else would they have a national seatbelt law. Why should I have to wear a seat belt if I am the only one in my car? Is there possibility that my body will shoot out the window and kill someone in an accident? The law is there because seat belts save lives and sometimes we need someone else to enforce that.
What kind of marxist nonsense are you spouting? I sincerely hope you don't live in the US, because the last thing we need is more communist nanny state types voting. I am terrified by the thought that your vote even counts as much as mine.

You have shown your ignorance by claiming that an updraft would flip the truck on it's end. You could go 200 mph in this truck and it wouldn't flip on it's end, it's not a carbon fiber bodied rear engine car with no weight in the front. I don't feel like giving a physics lesson but the force needed to flip over a 3 ton truck, with the majority of the weight in the front is immense........

i have an 05 tundra and it is fully long traveled, my problem is i have no speedo working right now. i have engine codes for the speedo. i have smog coming up and i need to get my check engine light off..what do you guys recommend? looking from this pulling the abs sensor disable the speedo anyways so that doesn't work.. think my speed sensor is just broken? or is it because i do not have any abs sensor on any of my wheels now?

Why don't you pull the fuse for the air bag, curtain air bags and seat belt locks too? You guys are brave to jerry rig the safety features and risk killing or damaging you vehicle and voiding warranty over extra measly 20 mph. I would just be happy it gets to 110-120 as fast as it does and be content with the technology Toyota put in it to keep you from killing yourself or worse, others. Faster and cheaper to just jump off a plane with no parachute and kill yourself. I think you will go faster than 120mph.
You evidently live a very different lifestyle than some of us and that’s okay because when purchasing and owning something in America it’s your right to do as you please with it. But thanks for the advice anyway.
