Removing Speed Limiter

I searched and searched and searched but could not find any answers other than the UNICHIP system. Please don't mention the unichip system in any responses, I'm trying to get intelligent info on how to remove the speed limiter without having to purchase 3rd party hardware and I'm sure a lot of other people on here would like to know the same.

Top speed is 110 mph or so, it's TRD supercharged w/SC reflash.

Are there any fuses that can be pulled to achieve this like the ABS fuse?

I don't care if I also deactivate other systems in the truck like ABS, VSC, Auto LSD... I deactivate all that when I hop into the truck anyway.

I thought that was taken care with the re-flash...?? I hope you are saving those kind of speeds for the track

Unfortunately the reflash does NOT remove it

Doesn't the reflash raise the limiter to 125?

Okay, now that that's done, I just wanted to repeat what I read on another post. To bypass the Speed Limiter, this guy removed the GREEN ABS 40amp fuse located in the fuse box near the battery. What this does is it disables the speed limiter, ABS brakes, and the whole speedometer and whatever else on the dash. He then used his GPS to track his max speed and he said it read 146mph....

Also, I've heard that if you have law enforcement credentials and use the truck as a pursuit vehicle, you can get Toyota to set the speed limit to 155. Not sure how true, or how much of a PITA of a process that would be.

Be careful! I hear that our driveshafts like to explode at really high speeds.

Had mine done in 2010.
The stock speed limiter was 110-112 and after the blower install it raised it to 125-127 ( Checked with gps both times) Varies sometimes not sure why though.
I read on other forums or it might have been here that they lowered the speed limiter on the latest blower reflashes. Not sure when it was that they started doing that but thats what I read.

I believe removing the abs 2 fuse disables the speed limiter and abs as well.

Trucks are not very stable at those speeds OF 130-150, um from what I hear!

Unless you modify them to look and act like a car.

if the UNICHIP works why not just buy it instead of jimmy rigging your whole truck

Driveshaft failure at those speeds is a pretty scary thing, what I don't understand with the Tundra is when I spoke with Gadget at URD about the new control module he said he wouldn't even think about the speed limiter adjustment until the driveshaft gets upgraded. I have called and spoke to several driveshaft company's about an upgraded driveshaft and they all say that they would build a 5" driveshaft .125 thick aluminum with 1350 u-joints and that is exactly what I have, so I don't get or worry about it!

So someone please explain how pulling the ABS 2 40 amp fuse turns everything off including the speedometer and I think it turns off all nannies as well, I am not sure how the trans still shifts with out speed input. If we could figure out how to give the speedometer input while turning everything else off such as a relay controlled from dash to brake abs 2 circuit.

And further more I took the dash apart looking at the VSC switch because I figured out if the button is held during startup it turns everything off except the LSD so if we could find a constant button instead of a momentary button such as the 112volt converter button it might work not sure. When I took the VSC button apart the outer shell is set up for the constant hold constant release but the internals are not so that is a clue as well.

I have also been rather anoyed with the fact cruise does not stay on when you shut the vehicle off so I held the cruise on button in while turning the vehicle on and off and it stayed on as well. I guess it bothers me bacause I drive GM vehicles and it staysin the positons even when shut off, so I will take that apart as well and check it out!

I can't tell you the schematics of it but it works. Back in 09 when I had my unichip custom tuned, it kept down shifting ruining the pulls. Andrew from San Dimas auto figured out that the tacomas guys where pulling this fuse to disable the speed limiter for their tuning and it ended up working for our trucks as well. You lose all the nannies and speed limiter but abs as well. I believe he had my truck up to 130 at one point. But this was a few years ago.

Yeah it has definately been confirmed that it doesn't shut off at 100mph any more I just tested it with my Garmin and all nannies were gone, it's to bad you can't run a new wire to the speedo and wire a relay between the abs2 circuit controlled from dash, it was a little scary breaking 100mph probably won't do it again!

Hello brother. This is accomplished by a single three second press of the button. Most folks do this when the engine is running but the truck is stationary. By "held during startup" you have done the exact same thing, just a little earlier than others.

Yeah Andrew told me not to say anything about this, but I know you'll all be responsible right? However, if Toyota ever checks your ecu there will be a trouble code for this. Make sure you clear the code after putting the abs fuse back in.

what is this Wenco driveshaft you speak of, I was worried about going that fast because of the driveshaft failures that have plagued the Tundra. I have rolled two trucks at high speeds, the state troopers refused to write me tickets because they were happy I was alive, Evil Canival is my name!

The wenco drive shaft I have is due to the lowering kit on my rcsb. Even after knotching the frame, my drive shaft would still hit on occasions. So I had a 3 1/2 inch steel drive shaft replaced. Not sure if it's any better at high speeds but I don't hit anymore. I'll post pictures of the before and after if you want.

Why don't you pull the fuse for the air bag, curtain air bags and seat belt locks too? You guys are brave to jerry rig the safety features and risk killing or damaging you vehicle and voiding warranty over extra measly 20 mph. I would just be happy it gets to 110-120 as fast as it does and be content with the technology Toyota put in it to keep you from killing yourself or worse, others.

Faster and cheaper to just jump off a plane with no parachute and kill yourself. I think you will go faster than 120mph.
