Twice within that last week my Artic Start AR800 has failed to start. It has only occurred when the truck sat outside all day with temps between 30-40 degrees. Truck is a '14 with 43k miles and original battery. Remote start was installed by a local shop over a year ago.

When the remote start is activated the truck makes all the usual start up noises and then the engine cranks but does not start. The starter sounds strong and steady.

After the first time this happened I got in and used the key. The engine cranked but did not start. On the third attempt the truck started. I have had no issues using the key before.

The second time the issue occurred the truck started after I activated the remote start a second time.

I checked the battery this morning in the garage with a multimeter. I got between 12.3-12.4 volts. During start up the volts dipped in the 9 range.

Does this sound like an issue with the ignition bypass failing or possibly a battery issue at start up?

Have your battery tested. Volts don't mean much if the battery is no longer putting out the required amps and given that you are still running the original battery and this has developed with colder weather, I would point to your battery first.

one stupid thing to check is make sure your not low on fuel.

most systems will not start or shut right back off if you low on fuel.

Not likely the battery.

COULD be the bypass, the remote starter, installation issues, or even the rpm sensor wire. If it doesn't know it is cranking that can cause issues. I know this from a previous vehicle that was tapped at one of the ignition coils and the terminal became corroded that they put on the connector and it would cause fail to starts all the time.

I reterminated the connector and my issue went away.

Most audio shops will warranty the remote starter for xx time. The places I deal with offer lifetime warranty on their installs. The mfg offers warranty on the unit. However, that is not a very high end remote start system, so I do not know their warranty.
