This thread will document me building a 9 second Tundra sleeper truck nicknamed "Thundra".
For that, I will need to make around 1000 whp and be able to deliver it to the ground consistently.
I was a little past halfway to that goal last year with 570 whp and a 12.3 second pass at the strip.
The eventual plan is for a fully built long block, 2650cc Harrop blower, big shot of nitrous, big injectors, DAP tune, IPT built trans, drag radials etc etc.
How crazy and expensive is this going to get?? Time will tell >:D

Here are some details on the ported and polished heads that will be going into this build along with some seriously upgraded hardware.

@VictorG, too bad 3UR-FE engines are not as common as LS pushrod engines.

You could save worry about the bottom end, run 2-3 passes before destruct, then go to the junkyard to get another one (~$200) like Cleetus McFarland. "Hael, Yeah, Bruther" :D

Just kiddin'. Watching the build. ;)

Whatever happened to the guy from Dubai or somewhere that had 1000 hp, with turbos, I think? But he only got into 10's, then blew up.
BRX ran mid 10s on his twin turbo setup last year and I haven't seen anything from him since.
Where did you hear that he blew up his new motor?

Personally I like turbo over sc, but either way, power is power. I hope you get there man. Great work.

It's nice to see people trying to make big power from a Yota.

I wish our engines were as common and easy to build as an LS, or an sbc, 5.0, hell, even the old 4.6, or the shitty 5.4 hahaha.

Wow, little things can make a big difference.

I broke my tranny ?. Any idea how to get it built stronger? I wouldn't want rebuild an OEM trans again. Mine was stock with IPT VB mods.

Not quite 9s yet, but the truck ran its first 11 second pass yesterday on the wild streets of Northern Mexico!
The 0-60 mph is pretty respectable as well at 3.3 seconds (with 1ft rollout, which is how car magazines etc. measure it).
She is getting there!>:D
