This is how the U.S.A. manuals should be written. It still explains the 0W-20 recommendation, but lets you choose viscosity based on your climate and usage of the vehicle.

I still encounter more cold weather than hot weather so I'd still be looking at the line that starts with '0W-' ... I run 0W-40 CJ-4 in gasser equipment too so that I don't have to stock up on a variety of different engine oils. Buying different weights for everything results in a little bit of this and a little bit of that left over, unused, so get something that is suitable for the most stringent engine that you have.

That's my opinion as usual, don't want to start an oil weight debate again.
