Hello there all,

We received a very interesting question from forum member Cyrus1, who asked:

"Do you foresee Toyota ever innovating on a class first feature or option? Toyota has the best engineers IMO, cut them loose on something, and not a hybrid, nobody wants a hybrid truck."

Well, Toyota maintains core values: safety for our customers and the vehicles to meet their needs. Safety being the main focus of Toyota as was clearly illustrated in the launch of the 2014 Tundra.

The 2014 Tundra was the first pickup truck in its class to offer a standard backup camera as a standard feature on every grade of Tundra. Tundra is currently the only truck to offer an available Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RSCA), and the only truck to offer driver and passenger knee airbags.

Thank you for your comments about our engineers. The engineers, designers and every team member that contributes to Tundra and all Toyota vehicles demonstrates a diverse team that shares the same commitment to safety and the core values. Every team member has a voice and input into our vehicles and products we prodcue globally. It is the Kaizen way of thinking and instilling ownership in the products and vehicles we design and manufacture, and the pride we have to meet the needs of our customers. Achieving No. 1 is usually a designation or award given or bestowed to Toyota. Within Toyota, the focus is to provide our customers with a vehicle that they know is No. 1.

Thanks for the question.
