If you look at the interior pictures on the toyota website, it seems they got rid of the upper glove box.

Thats a bummer.

I'll be honest I do like the re-location of the engine badge that looks pretty slick.

I do really like the look of the new exterior and interior. HOWEVER, I still love the look of my 2010.

Why would they no go into details regarding the engine options, mpg or transmission? The only thing they mentioned was it could now haul 2,000lbs instead of the current 1,325lbs?

Somewhat disappointed not receiving more information.
I'm guessing hauling and towing figures are the same.. 2000lbs for a standard cab and still low as hell for a CMax.

You'd have thought they would have taken this chance to redesign the frame that everyone attacks Toyota over...

Completely agree. Why wouldn't they come out and remind everyone what Toyota is about.

Maybe they changed what they are all about???

I don't think they are following anyone. Maybe they didn't push themselves further ahead but I'd rather have my engine and tranny than the one from any other manufacturer. Like I said in an earlier post there could be another engine that will show up in a year or two
I like my engine & tranny as well but seriously, it's time has passed for prospective new truck buyers. I'm guessing Toyota does not give a $*#T about the Cafe standards or the competition's more advanced engine/tranny offerings.

Another engine in a year or two? Toyota execs need a math lesson. In two more years (2016) this Tundra's engine, drive train and basic design will be NINE YEARS OLD. Even if there is a totally new, ground up, redesign for 2016 some might say that could be a case of too little, too late for new truck buyers.

Should be interesting to see how this decision plays out when it comes to sales. Waiting until 2016 or beyond for Toyota to catch up with technology will be easier to wait for with my 2012 Tundra.

Re: Official 2014 Tundra Discussion Thread! (All others will be deleted)

I think if they debuted this truck in '07 everyone would love it. The 2nd gen was so unique and badass looking at the time that it makes this is kinda disappointing. Ehh...

Not terrible IMO, but not nearly as much of a step up from 2nd Gen. IMO Toyota made great leaps forward with every redesign of the Tundra, this seems at best to be a step sideways.

Hey Toyota, you want to break into the 1/2 ton market? How about being the first company to put a diesel in a half ton? Is that rocket science? How hard is it to throw a turbo on a V6? Ford did it with great success. Hell throw a turbo/blower on the 4.6 and make it put down significantly more power than the 5.7 If you want to attract new customers you have to be significantly different, the lines have already been blurred between 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks who is going to spend the same money to get a Tundra if you need to tow 10k lbs regularly? They are going to get an F250, simple as that. And if they want MPG they will still get an EcoBoost.

So Toyota, don't be surprised to still be 5th in the full size truck market. You blew other 1/2's away in 07, but they've been playing catchup and you've been apparently resting.....and it shows.

I am disappointed I mean yes the interior is awesome but it seems as if they just halfassed everything else. I was expecting to be wowed like when they came out in 07. I am going to keep my 11 until the next refresh. I also hope they put out a new powertrain in soon too.

Completely agree with you. If they had slapped a 4.5 diesel in that thing Toyota would have had the big three crap there pants. Oh well. Maybe they will figure it out sooner rather than later. Bet they see an increase in 13 sales haha.
