New Tundra Old member.............Permanent BAmufflers test pig!!!

7325 Views 46 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  texasranger96
So I bit the bullet and bought a new test pig. I've needed something that I could try new designs on and make changes immediately and now all I have to do is steal this away from my wife to do so;)

My buddy JBroas will post up a pic since Photobucket is being stoopid LOL

Nice looking truck.

I keep seeing the electric fans coming up, big fan of the idea, not necessarily for racing as much as extending the life of the water pump and better fuel economy.

Be willing to test one on mountain and desert conditions for you, if your ever interested.

Congrats! I got Jim's Voicemail this morning, learn to turn those nannies off! Haha. Hold the button for 3 seconds until you see lights come on, release and hold for another 3 and you're good!

At Qualcomm stadium race legal 1/8 mile in 4HI I was consistently pulling 2.2 sec 60' and 9.6 sec E/T. So that's my baseline E/T. I can't wait to see baseline dyno numbers;)

Ya. It's crazy, I actually worked with a guy at Toyota corporate last night to figure out the nannies. I couldn't get em all off. I guess I gotta read the manual. My truck was different from his.

The most tq I saw stock was 335, and with my 6" bolt on max was 337:lol5: It's not as much as I thought, but in the 2 minutes we went over the graphs it looks like tq comes on a little sooner. I'm waiting very patiently for the dyno sheets to be emailed to me!! printer was down:mad:

so 319HP and 335TQ is my official baseline. Videos and dyno sheets to come asap.

I cant wait to see what the mid pipes do. Im looking into a similar setup with keiths expertise and getting my supercharged DC 4x4 on the dyno as well.
Im guessing all gains will be multiplied on a supercharged truck, but we will have to wait and see

I know!! I can't wait to build these. I'm building the front nipples/flanges tonight and the dual 12" mufflers that I intend to use to keep the sound reasonable tonight as well.

My feelings are mixed on the results that I'll see. I've always taken the stand that there is little to be gained by removing the cats if you still have the stock manifolds. I could be wrong.

One thing that is pretty common on supercharged trucks is that the cats blow out. So this will make it very cost efficient to fix that for sure.

All testing will be done off road in the desert then the truck will be returned to stock before driving on a public road way. These pipes are only for use on a vehicle that is not driven on public roadways.

And I agree, any gains on a naturally aspirated truck will be compounded by a supercharged truck. Here's a teaser:

I'm very interested in your result. As we discussed on the phone, I'm on the fence between getting new cats or doing the multiple mufflers.

We will talk again!

Ouch, I thought I was special :(

Just kidding lol

I have no idea, but I know the exhaust sucks. I want to keep it very quiet though and I need to keep the stock manifolds till my extended warranty is up.

We discussed making a b-pipe with 4 mufflers and the cat back with 2 14" mufflers. I might still just order some pipe and some J-bends and tig up something. I can't spend any money till we close on this new house.

that's what she said:lol5: and I assured her that she was LOL

ya, the pipe has hidden pipe inside it

And here's what I've built to fix that, off road use only, not intended for use on any vehicle driven on public streets.

Here's the first step to ridding these trucks of their hidden bottleneck;

I'll bolt these flanges/nipples to the stock manifolds and build the rest of the pipes using all mandrel bent 2.5" tubing.

Keith you are an awesome man I wish I had more time to do the things you are doing but I just have no time with my work. I hope I can just wait and afford to buy some performance parts when I can.
