I just picked up a 2007 Toyota Tundra Double Cab(5.7L). It has 62k miles and its in ROUGH shape, but I got it for a great price(12k). The previous driver must've been crazy because as far as I can tell, he has barely done any maintenance work on it. Thankfully, I've ben driving it and the engine seems fine and it runs SMOOTH.:)
Now I have a boat load of questions:
How can I install a backup camera/navigation?
What mods should I get?:D (Halo? I heard that I should stick with OEMs)
Should I get clearance lights?
I want to get a bull bar and nerf bar(step bar), any recommendations?
What maintenance should I get done on it? (Considering nothing was done)
How do I get the fobs programmed?
Spray in bed liner or get a plastic bed liner?
Recalls? (I don't think the previous owner did them)
Should I get all the rust out of the truck?
Anyone wanna gimme a rough estimate to fix it? :p

I know the car looks bad, but I think it'll shine once I'm done. :p

I know, it's going to take some work.:D
There's a lot of work you gotta start before thinking of cool mods like you're listing...

Please don't do the mods first... It will look awful! Well worse than it does. :lmao: welcome!

Welcome. What part of Texas? As for all your questions.. Get comfy and start searching. Every question you asked has been beat every way. You will find your answers and then realize you had it all wrong and go with things you never thought about. Again, welcome and good luck.

Don't worry, the car is going into the shop on Monday and will (hopefully) be out by Friday. I'm just trying to start collecting parts.
Welcome from Central Texas. That's a nice project you got there. You should really make a build log on this one. It'd be nice to watch it transform.
Welcome. Is that the spare tire in the rear? You have a perfect excuse to get some nice after-market wheels. The damage seems to be cosmetic. Perhaps a good excuse to get a heavy-duty bumper. 5.7 engine is good choice. Good truck to start modding, imo.

Ya, that's what I plan on doing. Hope all goes well.

yes, its a spare! I just spent 700 bucks for Nitto grapplers, but I plan on getting new rims,so I'll be keeping an eye on Craigslist.

I just bought an OEM bumper 2 days ago, so it's a little to late for the heavy duty now:mad:!

I've been in love with the 5.7L engine! It's so powerful, but it guzzles gas like CRAAZY. I've been only getting 13.7mpg, so is there any way to improve it?

Thanks.
Congrats (I think) on the Tundra and welcome to the forum. Get the engine, tranny and diff oil changed at a minimum. Hell yeah add on the clearance lights. I vote for the spray in bedliner. Nerf bars - many, many different styles - just get what floats your boat. Same for the bullbar - a matter of taste. Good luck!

I wonder how bad the wreck was. They took the left rear wheel and put it in the front passenger side lol
