Blizzacks are pretty popular as well. It takes time to get used to the flow of things here. I had the same worries for my wife, but she has adjusted pretty well. Definitely take advantage of the summer as soon as you can because it will be over before you know it.

I bought a 2012 from Kendall in Anchorage before we moved sight unseen which was scary. The first time I saw it was the day we got to Kenai in January and drove it home in a snow storm! Aside from the block heater and studs, I have the bakflip F1, katzkin leathers, switched backup cam mod, and I just ordered some NFAB steps this week. Love the truck. Does great in this environment. If you plan to do things outside I'm sure you have considered getting a bear gun. That was one of my first purchases.
I already have bear spray for sure!!! I'm thinking about getting the NFABs myself!

I would get those before you leave then. Based on the price searching I did, you will pay about an extra $200 if you get them after you get here. Lots of people on the peninsula run extra lights as well to help see the moose at night. I am thinking about putting an LED light bar on..

Up to you if you want to rely on the spray or not but I definitely don't. just my 2cents.

Where are you gonna put the light bar? Do you have a brush guard or a bully bar?

Bear spray is like salt and peppering yourself before he eats you :) the stuff sux when it accidently discharges or feezes and explodes.
Better than nothing. A good shotgun for the truck is great idea.
Aux lights are good idea for most of the year.
