I may buy an 04 tundra today with 90,000 on it. Timing belt has been changed but I don't think water pump was. Clean truck I believe, still need to look at it. I've been looking for a long time. It's an access cab. Looking to spend around 9k. Any advice on what I should be wary about or problems with this year truck, etc? I've heard front shocks and O2 sensors need replacing sometimes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you stay with 02 or newer your good. I don't have anything to offer except I miss my gen1. It was the right size.

'04 was the first year that had the AIP system. It's not as much of a problem on the Gen1 Tundra as it is on the Gen2, but you will eventually have to install an AIP bypass mod. It is a fairly simple mod to do so not a big deal.

Check the frame. Gen 1s had a recall like the Tacomas did. Could be in your favor if frame has been replaced. Not all have the problem, but worth your while to look into
