I searched and didn't find the answer but I moved something heavy and now it appears my tailgate is loose on the right side at the swivel point. It will lift totally off or just sit back down and then close fine. What happened or was it always like this and I didn't notice it until now? Did a clip come off? How do I fix it? If it was always like this, it seems like anyone could just walk up and take the tailgate off and be down the road with it. Does anyone have a schematic of the rotating point where the gate and bed come together so I can understand how to prevent this from happening or feel ok that it's designed like this? Thanks.

the only way the right side of tailgate can come off is like Triplett said at a 45 degree angle an lifted up towards you at that angle . if you can put it back on its hinge a close an open like normal then ur fine . funny u said that someone can walk up an take ur tailgate an drive off bcuz it happened to me now i keep mines lock untill i need to use it ....
