The front windows weren't tinted and the backs had like 30% from the factory. So I put 30% on the fronts (max by law here), and brought the backs down to 15%. I also had clear Huber Optik UV film applied to the windshield. Helps keep the heat down as well as block UV. It's like having an invisible windshield shade:
Ordered the 3rd brake light and tail lights but so far only the 3rd brake light showed up from Recon.
And think it looks nice with the tinted back window. I would say the fit and finish isn't the greatest from Recon for this part and this might be one part you might want to smoke yourself if you have the time (I didn't).
Nice thread, your mods are coming along nicely. Your wife must love you for your AMP steps. I know mines wanting some, but parting with the ole NFABS will be tough. I just carry a small step ladder for her on nights/days we take the truc, lol.
Thanks guys. The Recon tails'showed up so I popped them in.
These lights are pretty good, for some reason the driver side doesn't sit quite as nice against the body a the passenger side. It's kind of minor but you would think Recon would have fixed that. Oh well, all in all I'm happy with them.
I got a used Volant off of eBay, arrived Friday and installed it yesterday evening. Drove it around today... wow.... this thing sounds S-I-C-K!
I was reading up on gasket issues against the fender and Volant themselves say to just leave it off as it was designed to mate up with the air ram they are developing. The gap is so minor I can see why:
I'm real happy with this mod, not gonna get good gas mileage for next couple of tanks, lol!
What's up guys?! Thought I'd finally get around to organizing my progress into a build thread to get some feedback and advice.
I'm still a car guy at heart, but after getting married and building a house, I found myself needing something a bit more practical. I finally bit the bullet and...
So finally have time back to myself and my mean green 2010 tundra. Started out on here to specifically get help but now am in the process of continuing my build that I've prolonged for almost 10 years, yes 10 years!!!
So I've had this since day 1 back in 2010, Texas edition (for all my Texas...
This thread will document me building a 9 second Tundra sleeper truck nicknamed "Thundra".
For that, I will need to make around 1000 whp and be able to deliver it to the ground consistently.
I was a little past halfway to that goal last year with 570 whp and a 12.3 second pass at the strip.
I got my 2010 in October 2017 with 16x.xxx miles. It was as close to perfect as an 8 year old vehicle with lots of miles can be and runs/drives great.
First I put on the TRD rear sway, then an S&B intake, then a color matched grill, then tow mirrors & then Bilstein 5100s, which caused the rear...
When you want a Raptor but realize how shitty your last F150 was, you build your own. Finally paid off the Tundra and since I'm keeping her for a while….why not.
