Like Big & Rich, I'm coming to your Cit-tay!

Soon, I begin my Big Oval Tour of America. The valuables are in storage and
I'll drive from Concord, California to see my nephew near Atlanta, Georgia.
He has cancer.
But, for the first time in my life, getting from point A to point B is secondary
to stopping and smelling the roses and whatever catches my fancy, so I don't
know when I'll be where. And I have six AAA Tour Books for side-trip ideas.

Here is where you come in: If you are anywhere near the route and would like
to meet, for a minute or longer to show me the sights, let me know and I will
come over.
I plan meeting friends, family and people I met online as a part of the trip but
I want to see people only if it is convenient.

With your contact information and where you'd like to meet,
Email me: [email protected]

or PM at: https://www.facebook.com/michael.shatto.9

The general plan: Concord, Salt Lake City, Pikes Peak, USAF Academy,
Shatto Milk Co. near Kansas City, Roan Mountain Tennessee, South Carolina,
Atlanta, Dollywood, Charleston, Savannah, The Panhandle and North Florida,
South Alabam, Duck Commander, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, Dallis,
Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Area 51, Flagstaff, Apache Junction, Phoenix,
Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Yosemite. Then I'll mosey home.

I'll go through Yosemite, if it isn't snowed in, Death Valley, Vegas, Grand Canyon and the Parks of South Utah and Salt Lake City. This may take the rest of May.

Then it's off the southern way to Pikes Peak, the USAF Academy, The Shatto Milk Company near Kansas City then The George S. Patton Museum at Fort Knox, over toward Dollywood, the Carolinas and the Atlanta area where I'll see my nephew who is in mortal combat with Cancer. This may consume much of June, depending on whim, fancy and if I'm kidnapped by a nymphomaniac chef.

Then it's off to NASCAR country then across the top of Florida, east to Willie's Duck Diner :: Home and into South Texas then north to DFW. and maybe into Oklahoma then West.
I'll hit a few sections so I can take a photo of a Route 66 sign on my way to Arizona.
Then Bakersfield, Taft and I-5 to The Bay Area.

Should be a fun trip.

I thought it would be neat to at least drive by Harry Connick Jr's music school and cruise NeYawlins.
If any of you would like to meet for a few minutes, I'll buy the coffee.

Make sure you have a place to stay after your visit to Shatto Milk. There are so many great flavors of milk that your gut will explode. They are right up the road from me by the way a crow flies, so give me a holler if you need anything.

You should try and plan a trip through Emmett Idaho On July 16, 2016, its our local Cruise Night. All the old classic car guys meet at the local city park, park their cars, chat, hang out, then they usually start cruising around town about 5pm till about 10 or 11pm. Pretty cool to see that many cars all at once...last time I helped out a few years ago I think they had like 700 classic cars.

Another somewhat fun event is the Emmett Cherry Festival June 15th through the 18th this year. A lot of stuff at the park going on, carnival type rides, tons of vendors from all over the place as well.

Emmett is about 30 miles somewhat northwest of Boise....although if you want to wait till your return trip and come through in the winter and stop in McCall Idaho they have ice sculptures up there which is scheduled January 27, 2017 till February 5th, 2017.

I said I'd drive my Tundra to the top of Pikes Peak.
Let me know if the link works. Or doesn't.

The Michael Shatto BIG Trip
Pikes Peak
The park was closed to up traffic and we at the top were preparing to leave. I discovered .... BARS! So I tried calling my sister and texting Dex.
As I was fiddling around the Ranger came up and asked if, by any chance, I had a tow strap. I said I did. A woman in a van was stuck. I whipped out the trailer hitch and installed it, pulled the strap out of the spares box, (Thank you to the big-rig driver who lost it on the highway) and went to look. I discovered the perfect size oval shape hole in the lower control arm of the real wheel, made a bowline and then another to loop over the hitch and then noticed that two-wheel drive Clyde stood no chance of un-sticking her on the icy surface.
Then appeared the H2 Hummer.
The driver turned around, backed into position, we affixed the strap and I went to the window to suggest locking the differentials and ask experience. She said no problem, she was from New York. There was no problem, she gently dragged the van way far out of the icy snow. I understood when she said she loved her H2.
