also interested in this. let me know how you make out. are you thinking about the oem nab head unit as well? i think all the wires are there from what i was told by another member. Do you have a source to buy the jbl equipment?
What do you plan to do? Can you change the connectors or get a conversion harness to make it work?Wish I'd have seen this thread before I bought a JBL unit. Maybe if i searched just a little more, i wouldn't have found out the hard way about the connectors. Live & Learn!

All you need is the oem (JBL) amplifier that came with that JBL HU.Wondering if there is such a "conversion" harness. Haven't dove into the dilemma with both feet yet. I'll think it over, and see if its worth the effort. Think this is why most people shy away from this type of swap, and just go aftermarket.
If I do that, I'd look further to find a Mac unit with ability to add and amp/sub setup for a more full sound. Def have to dog through the many threads here, and sift through all the posts for beneficial info.

Is not exactly that simple the plugs are the same the wiring is completly different, to me it doesn't seem worn the effort when even cheap aftermarket stuff will sound betterAll you need is the oem (JBL) amplifier that came with that JBL HU.
The JBL amplifier input is the common Toyota trucks 6-pin (rear speakers, illumination wire) and 10-pin connectors (+& constant/switched power, ground, front speakers' power antenna,) and the output is a 20-pin connector to the JBL HU.
That's why I think I'll ebay the JBL unit, and find a descent aftermarket HU that doesn't take away from the factory functionality (steering controls, BT audio, etc).Is not exactly that simple the plugs are the same the wiring is completly different, to me it doesn't seem worn the effort when even cheap aftermarket stuff will sound better
