I wasn't sure whether this should have gone in the wheels forum or suspension so I figured I would leave it up to the mods if they want to move it.

BDS states on their website that they recommend 5 1/2" - 6 1/4" backspacing with their 7" lift. My question is, can you go outside of those specs and if so, does it look or perform better or worse. I always try to keep within manufacturers recommendations but I want chrome rims and it it really limits my options if I were to stay within those specs.

I think they put those specs out there to try and avoid complaints from customers who try fitting wheels and they rub. I wouldnt think its the final say on what you can fit.

Less backspace would push the wheels out farther and might lead to rubbing on the body mount, more backspace and the wheel/tire will start to crowd the suspension (ie UCA or sway bar).

google wheel calculator and experiment. Im sure you will be able to work it out
