How do you access the controls on the winch?
There will be two access holes in the top of the bumper to gain access to the controls, I am also welding two tabs on the bumper to hold rally lights in case I decide to put some on I am doing that tomorrow and then painting it with bedliner material.

As to the question of weight it is somewhere between 125-150 lbs, I ordered the BDS preload spacers which came in the other day. I may be getting a 1/2 inch of sag but the preloads give about 1.5 to 1.75 inches of lift so it should lift my truck about an inch to inch and a half. Once those are put in I will make a new set of shackles to level the truck back out, since I dont want to put anything bigger than 3 inch blocks in the rear.

I vote this the DIY mod of the year. Freaking nice!
So does that make my rear bumper w/ swing out tire carrier build the second DIY of the year.....?

Thank you I look forward to building more things once I finish this one.

That is awesome. Great Job.

How much does it weigh?

So, do you cut the pieces with a straight edge and it comes out clean or do you take a grinder to remove all the cutting slag? Or do you just do it freehand and it just turns out perfect?

Haha no I don't just cut it freehand and comes out perfect. I use a straight edge and then just chip off the slag. The plasma cutter I got I am very impressed with. It will cut 1/8 and 3/16 like butter. The 1/4 sometimes has a few large slag points but mother to bad a grinder doesn't clean up fast.

What model do you have? I guess they are making them more power efficient now or something, because the one I had access to would choke on 1/4" and gouge instead of cut, then I would have to break out the oxyfuel cutting torch, which always works, but is not as and 'one touch' convenient - like I have to set the gas ratios right every time I fire it up.

Accuracy is why I tend to stick with cold cutting with bandsaws and abrasive discs, but that's obviously slower, and you're getting great results the way you're doing it.

Like I said more than pleased for the price if I remember correctly it was like 340 or 350 shipped with a three year warranty. Runs on 220v and 70-80 lbs of air pressure. It will literally cut a crisp line in 1/8 to 3/16 cold steel plate like a hot knife through butter. The 1/4 is slower but still does the job. I didn't have to cut alot of 1/4 most was 1/8 and then some 3/16, could never of built these bumpers with out it.

Very nice!

No squeaks actually feels like it rides smoother with the added weight. I'm still up in the air about the winch. I have some other things i want to build before I drop $600-$700 dollars on a winch that I might never use.

I am doing a roof rack or a fuel cell carrier that swings on the other side of the tire carrier.

Think I'm gonna do the roof rack first since the fuel cells are $99 each and I need at least 4...ouch.

Plus I want to add 4 lights, a hi-lift jack mount, shovel and axe holder to the roof rack so I think it will be a fun build.

I hear you WRT the winch.

Do you expect to use the fuel cells?
