I have some pretty bad build up on my chrome grille surround and a little on the bumper. I used to be able to get it off of other vehicles with some foaming glass cleaner and #0000 steel wool but that's not working on the grille. I tried some metal polish too but that didn't do much except shine it up. Any other suggestions?

You're a CO guy, right? Likely mag chloride corrosion. It doesn't come out. I've tried about 5-6 different products, including some high end stuff. You can't stop it; you can only hope to contain it.

Bleeh, just scuff the whole thing down and paint it black.

Yea, Denver. Didn't think about mag chloride but that makes sense. Doesn't look like regular chrome pitting

I'm in Aurora and the road entering my neighborhood also leads to a fire station. Before every storm they completely douche that road with mag. My rear bumper corners are really bad, and once I noticed it, I've put sealant on them before every winter. That has maybe slowed it down some.
