I recently bought a 300 watt 12 inch sub for my 2013 Tundra SR5. Quickly realizing I am in over my head and I have a ton of questions. Along with the sub I bought a 600 watt 2 channel amp. Upon further research its looking like a 2 channel amp was not the way to go and I shouldve gone 4 or 5 channels. Anways heres a few questions I need answered.
Can I connect 2 door speakers and the sub on 2 channels?
Do I need a lineout converter for the head unit?
Also is it possible to just run the sub without wiring any door speakers to the amp?
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am very lost.

Question 1. No, you would need a 3 or 4 channel amp.
#2 Unless the amp has speaker level input, yes you do.
#3 Yes, but you want one with a low pass filter so it only sends bass frequencies to the subwoofer.

Yes, should have bought a 5 channel if you want to do doors and sub.

Or like I did on my 2010, doors/dash with components, and then rear doors with coaxials, and a sub.


I think I have a JL AudioHD 900/5 in a closet still, since 5 channel amps are so versatile.

And yes, will need either a low pass filter, or will have to use an amp that accepts high level inputs, like JL as well as other mfg's.
Without knowing the amp model and brand, I can't say if it will accept high level inputs from a factory head unit.
