My super charged ‘07 fouled the #5 plug last week, started running rough, four lights blinking and flashing. I cleared the code with the Billy Dog, but it still ran rough and the lights came back in a few minutes. I changed the #5 plug. It was oily. It fouled and had a misfire cylinder 5 again within minutes.
I went to Toyota, and I’m replacing the engine with a rebuilt. There are no other options. The truck has 309,000 miles and I’ve done a lot that I don’t want to spend time and money doing to another truck. Everything else is top notch. I’ve had the truck for 11 years and I plan on having it another 10.
But, the #5 cylinder seems to be a common thread. The engine hasn’t been tore apart yet, so I don’t know the true cause. I’m suspicious of the rings.
