My 2014 Tundra Check engine light has come on 3 times in the last 500 miles. Auto parts store came back with a code about drive train issues with 2000 tundra, dealership read it as cylinder 8 injection issue. The tech said its very awkward. Cleared the history and suggested appointment. About to hit 88,000 miles on the truck. I'm the second owner. Now another weekend here and light has come on again. Any ideas? Need new battery? Gas cap?

Not sure what this statement means related to the rest of your statements.
Drive line issues will not be fixed with a gas cap or battery. Those areas will have their own codes. A drive line issue is going to be a transmission. Possible a shift solenoid.
Dealers will only remove and replace the transmission. Dealers do not repair transmissions. A good transmission shop can run the codes. It will tell them which gear is the problem and a solenoid is related to that gear. The electrical connections are known to get corroded and cause error codes. A good shop will drop the drain pan and replace the solenoid a dealer will tell you you need to replace the transmission.
But as Brian20 said write down the code. Most auto parts stores will read the code for you.
