Go weigh your truck. Then minus the sticker gross weight = payload (cargo + passenger, fuel etc).

You planning a trip to the quarry or a trip of any sort? I’ve never worried about this kinds of details. I just load up and go!

So the gross combined weight is 16000?? Is that posted somewhere?


And no trip to the quarry, just trips to the local campground with about 38 feet of travel trailer.


Make it easy. 5.7 can tow 12k, 4.6 can tow 8.5k

Those are my number and I’m sure it’s ball park. Like I say, I just hitch up and go regardless. If I’m towing something heavier than 12k, say 25k combined, the 7.3 comes handy.

To be honest, the 5.7 isn’t no punk - pretty much towed anything you hook it up to. Just needs better mpg and duallies when doing it.
