Yes. I know, new user, but I have been battling this for sometime now. I have a 2004 Toyota Tundra Dbl Cab 4WD SR5. 314,000 miles. For the past 6 months or so, I have had blue smoke out the tail pipe at various frequency, mostly at start up in the morning. I check my oil level every day and hard to believe, but was not burning/losing oil. No leaks what so ever. I have had to add power steering fluid regularly....like a lot of it, every few days. No leaks anywhere. Previously I have replaced the rack and pinon and the PS pump. Took this to several mechanics who checked things and did not believe me that it was burning PS Fluid. No one would believe me. Nothing on YouTube or forums that I could find.

Finally diagnosed the culprit. The Power Steering Air Control valve. Yes, the power steering fluid was being pulled over into the engine and the blue smoke coming out the back was from the power steering fluid, not engine oil. I previously disconnected and attempted to plug the lines, but due to the faulty valve, they would drip/leak PS fluid. So same loss of PS fluid, but not burning it. I replaced the PS Air Control valve and all appears to be working correctly. I would guess you could just screw a plug in place of the PS Air control valve and plug off hose end to the engine, which would be the cheapest solution, with minor impact to the steering at higher speeds.


Moral, if you are not crazy to think that you are burning power steering fluid.

WOW . YES i thought you were extremely un informed and or Crazy because this is impossible.
But in fact it can happen and i learned something .
