I traded my 2010 Tundra in for a 2012 this weekend. Time to finally start my own build log. :D

New Truck Specs
2012 Pyrite Mica CM
5.7 V8, TRD

I started modding at the dealership while I was waiting to sign papers.

Info Buttons
I couldn't believe that my 2010 SR5 came with the info buttons and the 2012 TRD did not- so while I was moving stuff from the old truck to the new one I traded the buttons for blanks. Plug-n-play. Luckily I didn't have to run the extra wires to make it work.

Stubby Antenna
I traded my stubby antenna for the stock while I was moving my stuff over.

Husky Liners
The front Husky Liners fit the same as they did in the 2010 DC but the doesn't. I "stuffed" it into place until I order one for a CM, then the old one will be up for sale.

Zone 5" lift kit with Nitro shocks
I ordered it on 7/7/12 from GaugeStore. I called this AM and they told me that it will be shipping from the manufacturer and should be shipping today. Very friendly customer service and offered to provide me with a tracking number when it ships.

BDS Preload Shims
Called my closest BDS Distributor today (7/9/12)- Mountaineer 4x4 Unlimited, in Hurricane, WV to order BDS Preload Shims. I gave them the part number listed in BDS Manual for Bilstien preload spacer (02207). He told me that the number did not show up in his system but he would call BDS and place the order. Parts should be in his shop by Wednesday and he will then mail to me.

Wheels
Ballistic Wizard 18x9 with +14 offset.
Ordered 7/9/12 ETA 7/16/12

Tires
I already have an almost new set of 295/70r18 Nitto Trail Grapplers waiting for Wheels. I purchased these last winter and ran for about 5k miles then switched back to Summer tires. I am sure most will think that the 295/70r18 will be a little too small with the amount of lift I am going with, but I already have them. My next set will probably be 35x12.50 Trail Grapplers or might possibly try out the Toyo M/T's. I drive 30k+ miles/year so I will probably never go to 37's...but the time may come eventually.

K&N CAI
Moving over from my old truck. I need to purchase a couple bolts that were lost in transition before I can reinstall. While I do not think there is an actual performance gain with the K&N CAI it was a gift from my wife and it gives the truck a nice growl under heavy acceleration.

More Pics to Come as build progresses. I plan to take lots of pictures throughout the process.

I still need to get some shackles ordered from CoachBuilder.

Planned future Mods-
BHLM
De-Badge
Recon Smoked CCL
AVS in channel vent visors
Rear Husky Liner

Future Mods being considered-
Color matching bumpers and grill surround
Towing Mirrors
TRD Sway Bar
Tint windows to state legal limits- In WV legal limits suck and it discourages me from tinting. Add that lifted trucks require Modified inspections which are more strict and illegal tint doesn't stand a chance.
Hidden Antenna mod AND install Firestick in its place to use for CB on jobsites
DIY Spray in bedliner
Bushwhacker pocket flares- color matched

Rather than purchasing new NFAB's I am considering trying to adapt the ones from my DC to my CM. The front holes line up but I will have to drill for the rear holes. I will probably bolt on the front supports and brace the rear to see how it looks. If it doesn't look too Ghetto I will proceed to checking into drilling holes. If It does look Ghetto I will be selling them and purchasing another set.

I will also be selling my stock TRD Wheels/Tires with <1k miles on them and TPMS removed. What will be a fair price?

Any suggestions or other mods to consider? I'm most interested in mods that are cheap at this point. Modding is expensive and I don't know how much further I can push my wife. Lol

So, when are you going to start planning this out? You really should put more thought into it. Haha, we all know where your coming from. Can't wait to see.

It probably will never be too impressive beside your truck Big Tundra. I'm pretty anxious though. I keep watching tracking numbers and waiting for parts.

My biggest holdup now is my wheels. They are on schedule to be delivered Monday so I will have to wait until next weekend to lift it. I was hoping everything would be here to lift it this weekend but it's not too promising now.

I just spent most of the evening hard wiring my radar detector and GPS. I hate wires running all over in plain sight. I still haven't decided how/where to mount my CB. Might keep it mobile and just plug it in when I need it.

Plans for the truck sound good. Just watch the steering rack with that lift. Drive with the nannies off whenever possible to avoid failure.

I am getting a little concerned about the steering rack as it seems to be happening to everyone. I keep telling myself that it is a problem but it is exaggerated and that we only have a handful of known cases in relation to the number of trucks on here. It is widely known and discussed and makes it appear worse than it is (hopefully). This keeps me from worrying about it as much. I have an old friend that is a tech at my local dealership that I need to discuss it with.

I just hope Toyota does a mass recall and replaces all of them.

On a more positive note-
My last truck was a 2010 with 3/1 spacer lift and 3" body lift and 295/70r18 tires. It had 93k miles on it when I traded it in. Never any trouble with the rack on it and it was supposed to have the same issues.

Time for a quick update- Lift didn't ship as soon as planned and is scheduled to arrive Monday now. Wheels are also scheduled to arrive Monday. The wait seems to last forever and its only been 1 week. Hopefully I will be able to lift it next weekend.

Lugnuts arrived ahead of the wheels- 7/11/12

BDS Preload shims arrived 7/13/12

and

I traded my OEM Sport Mirrors for OEM Towing Mirrors off a 2011 DC- 7/13/12. I had almost given up on finding someone that wanted to trade and then he posted them on Craigslist for sale or even trade. I happened onto his add 14 minutes after posting and snatched them up.

Lift and Wheels finally showed up today! :D

Initial thoughts on lift- 1 box is VERY heavy tag says more than 70#. The box looked a little rough so I had to open and make sure everything was intact. Contents of box- 2 tie rod ends, 2 shims, 2 steering knuckles. Holy crap these steering knuckles are huge!

Now I can't wait to get some tires on the new rims!

I just noticed something interesting about the steering knuckles. I was trying to see if they are the same as the newly redesigned ones that BDS is using and the part number cast on mine correspond with the BDS part number listed in the BDS Manual- 02201. Same steering knuckles BDS uses.

Hopefully they are the redesigned ones. I'm not sure how to tell the difference in them but mine look a little different than the ones pictured in the Manual for the Zone 5". They look a little beefier from what I can tell.

Nice looking CM! I was able to trim my rear Husky liner to fit my CM when I traded my DC, it actually had a line to trace. What part of WV are you in btw?

I'm glad to hear that. One less thing to buy. Lol. I forgot about that line but I remember seeing it now that you mention it. I had thought it was for if you have the storage box in a DC.

I live in Beckley now. Grew up in Shady. You?
