Okay guys I had the 4.5 lift installed. Now when turning I hear and feel a popping noise while turning. I feel the pop in the steering wheel. Anyone ever heard of experience this?

Really? no one has anything to say?

So I stopped by the shop that installed the lift today and they crawled under the front end while I turned the wheel back and fourth causing the popping noise. They have decided that the R&P is loose since it is moving a bit. I'm not convinced that is the true issue since there are bushings there allowing it to wiggle.

They told me to bring it back tomorrow so they could go over the entire front end again and make sure everything was still tight. Now the front struts are creaking when I stop and get in and out, so that is just another thing I will have to chase down and fix.

I thought Toyota was supposed to be bombproof.

No not at all. I was just stating that all of the information on the web states that Toyota has had problems with the R&P issue since 2007 when they changed to a high pressure pump and new parts supply.

Heck like I said, that may not be the issue at all, but I would sure like to figure it out. there are a lot of people on these boards with the same kind of issue.

Running stock struts, I will take it to the shop that installed the lift today and let them check all of the nuts for torque.

Strike one...the lift shop could not fix it. everything was tight, but definitely the rack. Went to the dealer and within 10 mins they locate the issue. The shop installed a bolt that was too long and rubbing against the rack when it moves. The bolt was not even tight, since it was too long(about 1/2"). The shop manager showed me and was spinning the washer that was on it with his fingers.

yep, that is on the agenda. I did see him tighten the major ones, but I do not have a warm fuzzy other than the fact that the Toyota tech really looked it over when he found the loose one. Props to the crew at Fred Hass Toyota World. They are a class act.
